Crystal pickles-need recipe

As a child (about 50 years ago) family member made "crystal" pickles. They were quite sweet and looked like gems-bright green and shiny. Unfortunately, she wasn't the type who shared information and it is not an option to ask her again.
She was from a German background, if that helps and was Way busy in "canning and putting things by"
Anyone remember these?
