Here she is starting her show. I love the hugeness (LOL) of her blooms. She blooms all summer and fall for me.

Super Nova
well that is one fine looking plant you have there!!!!!!
I just cut my super nova back to 1/3 the size or we would not have been able to get it put away for winter. It is an aggresive grower.
I grow mine in the ground. Thank goodness it is hardy here!
Wow Daisy!
How long have you had her?
That's exactly what I was gonna ask, how old is she?
I have had Super Nova for about 3 years in this spot. I hate to cut on her because she's always in bloom! But I do cut the side shoots when I cut on her so she can grow more like a canopy.
Thanks, Daisy! I bet she is to die for when those bells open all the way up! How's the scent?
Anyone want to share a cutting from a super nova? I have a few things to trade or I could pay postage.
Charlene
Thank you all.
Blooms should be fully open by this evening or tomorrow evening. She's a fast one. This is the only single white brugmansia I grow. I got rid of all the rest due poor proformance for me. The scent is not as strong as Isabella but with all those blooms Super Nova offers some stiff compitition.
That sure is pretty daisy. I have this one and it's fragrance is so wonderful. Yours is massive though,
are you gonna dig her up daisy?
when do you usually do that?
Daisy, I'm not sure where Cypress is, but I see it's in 8a. Does Super Nova die down in winter or do you take precautions and cover her? I want to put my standard in the ground, but would hate to dig it up every winter in order to protect it. I'm in 8b-9a (depending on what hardiness map is used). Our temperature can get down to 23ºF. Usually for a few hours at a time except for this past winter when a sleet storm kept the temperatures down there for about 3 days.
OH Gosh no! Dig? Me? No way! Super Nova and all my brugs stay in the ground. I don't dig any up. I have some in pots like L'Amour, Vixen and doubles which hang out in the green house over winter, but these have never touched dirt and for now they will stay in pots. The ones in the ground get cut back to about back to about 2 foot, then I put a tomatoe cage on them. That tomatoe cage gets a big box covered in plastic put over it to protect the brug from our freezes. It never fails, it rains really hard, then it freezes. Hence, the plastic covered box. The cuttings come indoors where they are put into a bubbler for rooting over winter. In March I take all those cuttings out of the bubbler and put them in potting soil. They are rooted and ready to stand next to the cut back mother plant. The cuttings have to do the blooming til momma gets a growing. I don't cut all back just my favorites. The others fend for themselves, no cutting back, not protection. Just fallen leaves that I throw at the base of all my plants which serves as mulch.
I might still have two or three big fat chunks of super nova truck, I will check tomorrow.
Thanks, a whole bunch. I am new at brugs, but I do love them. I have cuttings from a friends noid yellow and another one that I got off ebay. I forgot the name, but it is a salovens (spelled that wrong) the flowers start out yellow and turn peach on the ends and cream colored at the top and middle. It has overwintered here two winters and died down and came back. This is amazing to me as it is about 8' tall and came from nothing in the spring, but the roots.
My cuttings haven't had time to bloom yet, they are just now getting roots. The one from ebay has bloomed and bloomed. It is beautiful.
Daisy, we will be going down to Nadine's next weekend and it would be nice to slide over to see you place as well. I have only seen it in the Spring and would love to see it in the Fall.

I will check in the morning and let you know what I still have out there on super nova. I do not need any plants. I am well above capacity for this year. I had a much better seedling sprout rate this year. I have around 75 to bring n as well as my mature plants.
I would normally have more to share, but this year we have pods on so many plants to they can't be cut back.
Hi Ken,
I would love to have you guys come over. Just let me know when you know for sure so I can BBQ or cook up something or there's always that Mexican place across the street that Maggie likes! LOL!
charlenesplants,
I won't be cutting Super Nova back until later this winter. So won't have cuttings until then. How far is buffalo from cypress? You could bring a truck. I'm pulling out a bunch of ginger, canna, bamboo and huge brugs-root ball and all I no longer want. You could take a truck load home. LOL! NO I'm not mailing!
Flowerjunkie,
You are very close to my sister. I visit her as often as possible. If I knew when you were planning on making this huge reduction, I would definetly make the trip. Sis lives off of 2920 in Tomball. I would be thrilled to help you in exchange for the bounty. Now if Ken happens to come at the same time, he could bring some different brugs and I would have plant heaven right there in Cypress.
You wouldn't even have to barbecue for me, Mexican food would be my treat.
Charlene
BTW I have two trucks AND a lowboy! LOL
That's a neat way of protecting your brugs. I have 3 in the ground that I was going to put buckets and mulch over after cutting them back.
Kathy,
It works for me. I'm always taking the easy way out! LOL!
charlenesplants,
Come on down. Sept 1 & 2nd look like the week end Ken is talking about. See the tall stuff to the left of Super Nova in picture number #3? That is the bamboo I'm talking about. Its a clumper but its moving closer to power lines so I want to take a big secton of that out. I'm not kidding! I have alot of stuff. A huge chocolate vine, a huge pineapple guava, lots of cardomon ginger, B. Coral Glow, B. Strawberry N Cream & B. Everlasting HAVE got to go for sure.
Who said anything about Mexican food? We are after the killer margaritas...oh and the food is good too! Right Maggie?

Daisy, Do you mean Nov. 1st and 2nd? Sept is behind us. Did you already start on the Margaritas without me? LOL
Charlene
I swear I have not been over to the Mexican place TODAY. I promise! I was looking at September's calender thinking it was November. They are coming visiting with Nadine on November 2 & 3, but don't know if they will actually make it by here...if they do it will be a nice surprise.

Thanks for the information Daisy.
We are comming down on Oct.27 & 28
Ken,
OK. That's even better. My parents are coming down the following week end Nov. 2 & 3. I have no plans for the week end of October 27 & 28. I will be done with my presentation at Lyondell around 2:00 and will be off for the rest of the day. Call my cell if you are coming over. I have it in my pocket when working in the yard. Looking forward to seeing you both.
I have a large enough piece of Super nova for three fat cuttings. PM me your email address.
theraglady, I don't know what PM means, but I d-mailed you with my e-mail address.
Charlene
Flowerjunkie, would you prefer a different weekend for me to come help you with cleaning out your flower beds, since your parents will be in town on the weekend we had discussed? LMK
Charlene,
Please come. My parents may change thier minds again. Even if they do come they will only drop by for lunch. They never stay long.
