I just love this plant -- it is soooooo cute!

Why they call it Bat Face Cuphea
A friend talked me into buying one, and I just stuck it in the ground against an east-facing wall. It's HUGE. It's bigger than the roses I so carefully, tenderly planted, fed, etc. I was stunned. Do I need to cut it back at all? This thing is about 2 feet tall and 4 feet wide.
The blooms are darling. I just love them.
Oh i love it to, i did not think they grew like that thought was just house plant.
Well, I don't know whether it will make it through the winter. We'll see come spring! Mine is really prolific.
I'm pretty sure it's an annual for me. But that's okay, I will gladly buy another one next year and do it all over again.

I've found that it is root hardy. It always comes back, usually bigger each year.
Mine have not come back in 8a.
I suspect I quite accidentally planted it in the ideal place when the moon was in the ideal aspect or something. It's big and green and prolific with the little bat faces. If/when it gets twiggy, I'll probably cut it back and just wait and see next spring. If I shouldn't cut it back, would someone please let me know? Thanks!
I'd cut it back now & start some babies. But I just started getting 'stuff' for my next 26' of HH!
:~)
HH?
HH = Hoop House
Made fr cattle panels. The one I made last yr was 5 panels & wound up being 26' long by 8' wide & 6' high. I got 5 more panels this past wkend to make it 52' long.

Where I got my idea but mine is not as fancy as some of these but then I am as far north either.
:~)
I have a HH! Just didn't realize that was a name for it. I love mine, but don't go in it lately as I seem to keep getting whacked in the head by luffas... I'm lining the "floor" of it with cardboard as I get boxes. I have a little iron love seat out there, and figure I'll put down a layer of grass clippings. Either I'll have a nice, soft floor or I'll wind up moving the thing and it will be nice and fertile.
