This is Inca Sun x L'amour- seed that I received from BGI seedbank.
Since I like orange brugs so much, I'm really enjoying this one. This is a small spreading plant, there's slight fragrance to the smallish horizonal blossoms and they hold their color well.
Up the blossom.

Oh gosh, Iove that Inca Sun cross.. wow! They are all nice, but that one screams.. Sooo pretty and great tendrils... I love that one.
Oops, a correction on source of this seed- looks like it actually came from Seed Sprout- thanks, Brenda Delph!

I'll take a towel to dry my key pad with now:) They are very nice, Thanks for posting them:)
Love that orange one.
Wow, a double from that cross, I am surprised. You sure are having a run of good luck.
Brenda, they are all neat, but I have to agree, the first one is awesome.
I love the oranges, must be the orange bedroom I had as a child (don't ask, lol!) I wonder how #3 will color up.
Congratulations!
Jackie
Nice, I like the Inca Sun x L'Amour single, tho I'm very surprised at the Butterfly x Cypress Gardens being a double. It's pretty though.
I love the Inca Sun x L'Amour!! Nice color!
wow I really love the butterfly x cypress garden as I am a big double/triple fan...
Well, unless I mixed up the seeds or the labels (not unlikely, knowing me, but I was very careful) or there was a mix-up before the seeds were shipped, this is the correct cross but like you, brugie, I'm very surprised- this looks more like Creamsicle x Apricot Moonflower or Geneviere x Kleine Aap #20.
So, here is this baby, all colored up- she is pretty, a vigorous grower, has 10 blossoms on her first flush, darker inner skirt is dropping so you can see it, fragrant and the blossoms are 6" wide at the skirt and about 12-13" long. What not to like? A nice deep peach color.
Brenda B
Wow, Brenda! I sure do love the way her skirts flare up and out.
The color suits her very well. Congratulations, my dear!
I think you've got a great one!
They are all very pretty. Who are the parents of cypress gardens? I couldnt find any info. Maybe she had a double in her background somewhere?
I love "looking up the skirts". That frilly look just makes me smile.
The Inca Sun x L'Amour is a cross from our own KRNYGRL, Diane! All of the 6 seedlings are nice, in shades of peach thru the deep orange on the first photo.
Thanks, Diane!
And thanks, Brenda D., for the Butterfly x Cypress Gardens cross! I don't know the genetic make-up of either of these singles that have produced a double. But I sure like her!
Thanks for all the support and nice comments.

oh, MY GOSH - thank you so much Brenda for growing out my cross and yes I LOVE the orange...oh please I so want to see the whole line up. Perhaps you could start a new thread and post all six - yes folks she sucessfully grew out SIX and brought them to bloom in one year! I'm loving this girl! Myself I only have 2 of the 10 seeds I grew myself that made it ..only one now has buds and it is getting ready to bloom..my issue this year was those )(*)(*# broadmites that just about destroyed one of these and many other seedlings. :-(
Oh, and Brenda Delph's double is BEautiful!
Thank you again so much Brenda for all your hard work.
oh and Brenda...sorry the questions are just starting to hit me now..LOL..could you possibly take a pic of the whole plant?..I'd like to see shape and overall size. Do the flowers have any scent?...and does it show any indications of having those wonderful HUGE flushes that Inca Sun has...what I was going for here was an alternate color of Inca sun with her wonderful, wonderful blooming qualities..this orange shows real promise to me.
VERY LOVELY INDEED.. each and every one.. Thanks for the flower show..
and the total picture of the plant is always interesting especialy on the new ones..to everyone..
Gordon
Brenda! Wow!!!
You know Angie and I have recently added brugs to our collections...Another addiction neither of us needs, but we want them badly. You are fueling the fire, you know:-)
Your pictures are stunning! Thanks!
Bev
Okay this is what I looked up. (did a little research on where doubles came from and looked on BGI under the different brug classifications). I am no expert at all this is just what I found so maybe some of the expert hybridizers can make more sense of it or add something to it?
According to the book, Brugmansia and Datura: Angel's Trumpets and Thorn Apples, by Ulike and Hans-Georg Preissel, "Almost all double-floweing Brugmansia can be traced back to B. x candida f. plena 'TuTu".
Candida is a hybrid of B. aurea x B. versicolor. Both aurea and versicolor wild species started out as single flowers as far as I have read, so I'm guessing some mutation must have occured somewhere along the way?
Here is a little research I did.
The parents of Butterfly are Rothkirch x Ocre
Ocre is a B. x candida (B. aurea x versicolor)
Rothkirch is an aurea ?
So if B.x candida are known to throw doubles that could be the answer?
Seems logical..I have no idea I am just guessing..based on what I looked up. Like I said,
I looked on BGI family tree and didn't see anything listed as parents for Cypress Gardens. I wonder if it also has versicolor genes?...who knows. Anyone else have any ideas.

Hey, Lenette
I responded to your reponse on another forum- good work researching this!!
The orange-orange seedling is not too floriferous but she keeps blooming, once she starts- 6-8 blossoms at a time. She is compact, like another sibling, only 4' tall- her other siblings are 6-8' tall.
This is a shot from Sept- no recent long shots. Cute, nicely shaped plant.
Diane, you have D-mail, and now, I really have to get to my son's marching band competition!
Thanks for all the enthusium you've all shared, and I will get a family album together, starting tomorrow!

Just a little more:
Okay since now I am curious I looked a little more, and it gets a little more confusing:
There are apparently many varieties of candida:
B x candida 'Ocre' - single yellow
B x candida 'f. plena 'TuTu' -double white
B x candida 'f.plena 'Pefection-double pink
B x candida 'f. variegata 'Maya' -variegated leaves and single apricot flowers.
B x candida 'Rosea' -single light pink
etc. etc.
I haven't found anything that says that either versicolor or aurea individually, have a double wildform species in their background. But who knows?
Butterfly's parent Ocre is a single yellow but it is still an aurea x versicolor (candida).
Candida (aurea x versicolor)crosses gave way to the other doubles of the f.plenas. Sooo.. back to the same place lol- who knows? I guess it isn't impossible.
More confusion is that Rothkirch is an aurea and if Cypress Gardens has versicolor genes then that is more Candida qualities...
A Penny for your thoughts anyone? LOL
