California Rare Fruit Growers. This organization is really international in scope and is a wonderful way to acquire and exchange seeds and plants and enjoy gathering for fruit tastings. I was an active member for many years in the Inland Empire chapter when I lived in San Bernardino. There is again a Texas chapter - Texas needs more than one, of course, but for the moment those of you in the Houston area can participate. The coordinator for the chapter is Edward Self and the contact is txrarefruitgrowers@sbcglobal.net
The next meeting is Nov.8. Ed told me he will be happy to add any Texas gardeners to the mailing list, regardless of location. He's helping me locate a Mexican avocado, and has an extensive list of seeds to exchange.
