Anyone use a solar powered water pump?

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

I'm planning to install a water feature in my shade garden where there is no access to electricity. Please post your experiences with solar powered water pumps. Resources to purchase one, pros and cons on using one, etc.

Thank you please

Deborah

I had a solar powered fountain in my bird bath. The cord was really long so that it reached sunlight. It worked great - for about a week. The filter on it clogged so fast from debris (every other day) and finally it quit working after about 2 months. I'm sure the birdy poo and everything they dropped in there didn't help.

This was the 2nd one that I had tried and it just didn't work for me. I wonder if I could have rigged some sort of bigger filter for it. Hope this helps.

Well, your shade garden just so happens to be my inspiration!. Love your statues.
I just don't see the solar powered ones on the shelves at HD and other big box store nurseries. Just wondering if they're all they supposed to be from reading in the magazine ads.

That is so sweet that you like my garden. I think I am going to try to add a statue every year or maybe every other year. LOL. It will drive the hubby crazy - lol

They don't have them at any of the stores around here either. I bought mine off of ebay. Here is a pic of what it looked like.
