Where do you shop? and DE

Woodsville, NH

Where does everyone find the best bargains online and off? I want to buy some feeders and waterers for a friend that has helped me out in the past and just started raising chooks, she is using plastic pans and needs to out several times to check on them so I figured I would get her a couple of early holiday presents. oh and she had an awful time with fleas where do you buy DE?

www.dirtworks.net its in the middle of Vermont and it was the best deal around. I got a 10 lb bag to be sure i like it first and it has lasted a long time. I can say i still have a zillion flies, but that is the only problem i have. They have the food grade type we are supposed to use with chickens BTW.

FLIES I truly hate them. If one even lands near my food I won't eat it and you have seen me I don't miss a meal. I will find the post about how to make a fly catcher out of milk jug and everyday kitchen ingredents that I found on other site. They spray for the cluster flies up here I would never though, because of the chooks and parrots and there is several dairy farms up the road from me so it would be useless. and thanks for the heads up on the amercunas and the site to buy de, claudette has dogs and cats plus birds chooks and others and where she bought her new house in sullivan its infested with fleas and she cannot get a handle on them, advantage /frontline (for the cats and dogs) only works for a couple of weeks and she doesn't want to poison her animals by repeating to much.

Thats too bad for her flea problem......that is one of the hardest things to beat.
You feel like you will go crazy before you beat them. There are some flease that are very hard to kill. One thing i learned is that you should not buy the cheapest bombs for the house, get the most expensive. If you try to save $$$ you will lose for it. I was a single mother and learned that the expensive way. anyway, that site has alot of neat stuff and its local.

The best place I found for waterers/feeders is http://www.americanlivestock.com. I searched everywhere and they were half the price of my local feed store.

No problem. I had the same reaction when I found them, couldn't believe their prices. I'm actually going to order another feeder from them, my chicks have morphed into pigs and I can't seem to keep their 22 lb feeder full! When I ordered the feeder was on backorder but they sent my waterer right away and the feeder two weeks later so good service too.

I paid $40 for 50lb feeders! I figured better too big than too small and now that the turks are eating 50lb a week I am very happy I did I am sure the gnez and chooks help some too. the base heaters are a bargain at $35
