So there was a Two-tailed Tiger!

NE Medina Co., TX(Zone 8a)

I couldn't find any eggs at the time those butterflies were here, but yesterday I found a cat on a neighbor's Hop Tree! Obviously, it must have started out on the top of the tree where I can't get to in order to check and came down recently. I check that tree every week, but it's taller than my own Hop Trees. The cat is doing an instar, changing to a green color, so I tried not to disturb it much. Won't be too long until it pupates. Darn butterflies, I try to tell them not to lay eggs where I can't reach them! I'm just not a young person who can climb trees...they should understand that!

Really neat cat, Linda.

Wow, that cat is neat! It almost looks like a GST cat except more bird-doo-like, with a greenish tint.

Ooh, I like the little raised "dots" on him. That is so cool!

Great going Linda!!! I tell ya, butterflies just don't pay us no never mind. I keep telling mine to lay eggs where I can see them and keep an eye on them...but do they listen? Nooooo!!! Neighbors think I'm nuts standing around with binocs looking up at the trees :o)

Keep us posted with this little bugger's growth. Lucky you...we don't get Two-tailed Tigers this far south.

The cat, after it finished the instar, has been eating and is a nice shade of green with the stripes that show occasionally as it moves.

Oh that is so cool! I'm starting to appreciate the caterpillar designs as much as the butterflies. I still think it's kind of funny how a lot of the caterpillars end up looking nothing like the butterflies, though. Keep us updated!
