Hi Everyone,
I recently joined Dave's Garden and I have just noticed the Welcome Mat, as a chance to introduce myself and say Hi to you all ! I am really excited about reading more and sometimes getting my two cents in. I love to garden and read about plants. I have owned my own home for about 6 years and my passion is to really make my yard stand out. I have brought many many rocks to encircle all kinds of plants and flowers. I have less and less grass and more and more flowers every year. I am growing edible things like-raspberries, gooseberries, cherries, mulberries, and currants too, and I have a very small pond in the back with goldfish. I find it pure joy to dig in the ground and cover my hands in dirt. I am glad to be among fellow gardening friends. God bless. Janet

Hi Janet, I guess we are newbies together. I joined DG about the same time that you did. I have already got so much info & advice. Everyone here has been wonderful. I was born in Milwaukee, but have lived in Tomah, WI almost all my life. Welcome!
Becky
Thank you for the welcomes. I'm also enjoying myself and am getting alot of info from this site. I hope to have more contact with you.
My dream is to get out of Milwaukee Co and more- out in the country some day.
Oh my goodness gracious...I also live in the city of South Milwaukee---
My name is "Jan" and I'm really into growing Tropicals (EE's, Cannas, Brugs & Dats, Confederate Rose, Hibiscus, Castor Bean...you get the idea)!!! Just finally got the last of everything into the house this past Tuesday evening.
Welcome to the BEST garden site with the BEST gardeners you'll ever meet.
Jan Thank you for the welcome. I didn't know that there was any one else from S M here.
I wish I had more room for indoor plants, but my space is very limited-most everything has to stay outside. I planted alot of new spring bulbs and now I'm so excited for spring to come.
Hope to communicate more with you. thanks again, Janet
Hi Janet,
Sorry that I'm a bit late about welcoming you to DG. I live in the St. Louis metro east area & have been vegie gardening all my life, but just the past few years have gotten into ornamentals & landscaping. Your yard sounds wonderful. I've always wanted a goldfish pond, but don't know if I'd be able to stay ontop of it. I also grow lots of small fruit; including a dwarf pear tree. I found Dave's Garden when researching vendors & found the Garden Watchdog a tremendous help. That's what lured me in. You should feel down right at home by now. Hope to see you around. Happy gardening.
Betty :)
Thank you !! I also discovered Dave's from trying to pull up the Jung Seed catalog.
Greenbrain--hmmm---- I like that handle. : )
Hey, soapwort ~ I am new as of today and had to reply to your message because I am originally from Kenosha County! Been to Milwaukee a billion times (world's best big small town!) and I am familiar with gardening Z5 since I lived in Wisconsin for 50 years. We moved to west Kentucky three years ago for a longer garden season, better zone, and lower taxes. It's wonderful here in KY but we are still Packer fans!
Kelly
Greetings to Hardin KY
Welcome KeyWee and thank you so much for the post ! Those are 3 great reasons for moving. I can understand all three.
Once a Packer fan- always one, right?
Hope you enjoy Dave's Garden.
...especially moving out of WI due to the TAXE$---they've become outrageously ridiculous!!! 10 more years (retirement) that will be one of the main reasons we'll leave plus WARMER weather...
Oops!...welcome KeyWee to the BEST gardening site!!!
Jan- My property tax went up 42 % this year- I am so upset ! I plan on moving also ( in the next 4-6 years).
Hope you have a Merry Christmas.
Good ole SM DOUBLED the appraised value of our rinky-dink lot this year...the politicians in this city are soooo @#$%^&* crooked!!! Remember when the majority of the voters nixed the brand new $42 MILLION SM High School but SOMEHOW it came to be anyway---whether we wanted it or not!!!
And, of course, there's the "state-of-the-art" Miller Park stadium that Milwaukee County NEEDED to have BUILT---another "HA HA HA" on us taxpayers!!! Didn't/doesn't matter whether "we" wanted it or not (Dh and I aren't "into" the sports teams) and it certainly doesn't make the Brewers play any better...we're still paying for it!!!
End of my rant...
MERRY CHRISTMAS to everyone!!!
Jan
