Sad but large Lavendar Lady

Port Saint Lucie, FL(Zone 9b)

I know we are coming into winter (Still here in Florida we were in the pool yesterday :) but the butterflies are still rampid around here. They have eaten my lavendar lady to nothing but stems and I don't think it has time to fill in again before the weather gets colder. The stems are still green and still cover the trellis. Should I cut the stems back to clean it up or should I leave it? My lutea has also been affected as has my batwing but they are much smaller and not so messy looking.

Is it the only LL you have? If so, I would try to take some cuttings just in case it doesn't come back or the critters eat it down to nothing at all and damage the top of the root system (had that happen lol). They should be hardy in your area to come back from the roots otherwise. Do you usually protect it? I think I would leave the stems as is until Spring sometimes the old stems/foilage can add a little protection for plants.

By all means take a few cuttings and root them.
But...I wouldn't be too worried about it's survival if the root stock is healthy.
Generally, here in Florida we have less cat and butterfly activity during the Fall-Spring. If we have a mild Winter, the plant should resprout.

As of yesterday, I see new growth at the top of the plant. Got fresh little leaves. I just didn;t know if those naked vines would start to sprout new growth mid naked vine or jst at the ends. I guess time will tell. It is my only LAvendar Lady and will let her grow for a little while before taking a cutting.

Thanks
