Hi Everyone,
Went to a Nature Center w/ trails. I did not get to walk far but almost at the very beginning was this wonderful nest.
Cool looking isn't it? Almost looks like its made out of stone but of course it is not.
Would anyone happen to know what type of nest this is?

Definitely one of the Polistes / Paper Wasps... Yellowjackets nest underground

Yep.........a wasp nest.
That must hold a lot of wasps pelle!
I read some have 5-6,000 in them, they just keep building.
looks like a hornet nest to me
We've always called them yellow jacket hornets but they are really a wasp
