Heirloom Corn Japonica

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Tried some neat corn (for the foliage). It had pink/green & cream stripes on the foliage. The tassles were red & the cobs, burgandy. We usually can't grow corn well in Calgary because the night temps are too cold in June. I usually plant corn @ the end of my veggie garden, so we aren't looking at a bare fence all summer. The seeds came from McFayden

You must be pleased with the results Joanne. Do you eat this corn or is it just for decorative uses?

Sure has an autumn look to it.

I missed the window of opportunity to try to cook it. The stocks had froze a while ago. It was for decorative purpose. I don't expect cobs to form most years.

I'm going to be in your area this week. It will be interesting to see the difference of fall colors.

The fall colours are poor this year because of the dry summer. Hope you enjoy your visit.

I love the color's of the finnished ears! The pink and green plant looks very interesting too.
I think that would look good in a grasses bed.
