beautiful ceanothus, but i don't think it's C. pappilosus ssp. roweanus, because of the sheer size of it. by definition, c. pappilosus ssp. roweanus is under 2 meters tall. this appears to be much larger. also, the blue flowers don't appear to be the same blue found in any of the c. pappilosus. if you send me a photo of the leaf, i may be able to identify the species.

Hi pete

finally got a pic of the leaf,
Ceanothus seem to grow big and fast here, flower well then all of a sudden die .
