We just got this one from Joan at last month at the Texas Roundup and it was really small. I was surprised when it put out this bloom but have high hopes for next year.

Candy Cane
aaaaah once that grows and miultiplies, i would trade so much to get some of that!!!!!!
It is really small and will take some time to spread. When it does I would be glad to trade with you. I do like the fact that it did bloom as small as it was.
i have some c.alismatifolia that has spread pretty quick for a ginger..
I dont think I've ever seen one before. Why do they call it Candy Cane? Ive seen some that had a bamboo like stem, is that the same one? Sorry for the dumb newbie questions lol.

If you could see the bract up close, it is white with red stripes. The size of the bract really disappointed me.
diehrd, do you have pictures of C. alismalifolia, I can't seem to find that one?
That makes sense budgie lover, thanks, couldnt see that in the photo lol. I just like it because it is pink :) Nice photos.
Diehrd, I would be glad to trade Gingers with you. The C. alismalifolia looks like the Kimono Rose we have. We have several others, if interested.
like what?
Kimono Rose is indeed a C. alismatifolia variety. There are several of them out there, with new hybrids coming out every year. Tulip shaped bracts are generally indicative of C. alismatifolia.

Thanks Chris.
That is indeed Candy Cane. It's a C. rhabdota variety.
That's a nice, strong flower on yours.
Chris
Thanks, I got it from you, Chris!
