Where is Red Oak Texas?

Red Oak, TX

kenboy, Red Oak is just south of Dallas , north of Waxahachie in northern Ellis County.

Big Sandy, TX(Zone 8a)

Cool, we are neighbors. We live just north of Tyler. We will be going in on a co-op this next Spring for Bananas and Alocasia and will be trading them off for other plants. We have not decided which ones except for Siam Ruby, it's a must.

Kenboy , it's very nice to know that we have another tropical plant person. I will be looking forward to your trade list next spring. I bought a Siam Ruby last spring, but I am not doing too good with it so far. I transplanted it this morning, but my friend, texasbigleaves is having all the luck growing them. They are so pretty. rita

Hi christmascactus, that is so funny. I did not see any socks flying over my house , but they might be over Texasbigleaves house, those are his bananas.
He bought his at Brian Botanicals, they were very small when he got them in the spring. They grew very fast and that is what they look like in the middle of summer. You can also find them at Natural Selection Exotics.
Spring.

placenciarita, i'm lucky to have a local tropical nursery near my house...although it's on my way home from work and I spend my entire paycheck there...but anyway, they had many large ones that I was so tempted to get but didn't know enough about them. What has been so difficult about them? Texas, what was your secret/experience with them?

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Beautiful bananas...
it's blooming now Rita? Is it outside? Looks like good weather for us this next week.

I'll be interested in ashleykellys question too...

Red Oak, TX

ashleykelly, lucky you, living so close to a tropical nursery. Texasbigleaves and I would always go to the farmers market when we got off early from work.
As far as what Texas told me about them, there are no problems growing them. They have a lot of new shoots (pups) quite often. He has them in the greenhouse right now, and no blooms as yet.

RJ , I am ready for some good weather, my heating bill was very very high this month.

Dallas, TX

Ashleykelly, No secrete, just lots of sun and water. And in my case lots of luck! Jerry
