That's terrible. Wow they really skeletonized those leaves, the cats ought to be big and fat now. Pick, squish, pick, stomp lol. The cats here have been really bad this year even eating the flowers inside the buds..grrrr..

Emory, TX(Zone 8a)

I had already been angry at the grasshoppers, and now this. We found several small ones, but no big fat ones. This is a new plague that apparently started this week! I really dislike bugs that eat the flowers... I have found several blooms with holes in them.

Ya need to spray ya brugs with powdered milk and dishwashing soap together...Cats don't like to eat plants with that stuff on them..LOL...

Emory, TX(Zone 8a)

Thanks for the tip Nadine! How are you doing?

College Station, TX(Zone 8b)

The cats totally denuded 2 of my daturas, and the same day I found one caterpillar on each of my brugs out in the yard. Fortunately before they did damage. They might have made pretty moths, but the ones that I found never will. lol

Well I am stuck at home right now due to my hearing dept..I wear hearing aids and the weather changes from summer to winter is not good for my ears...but other than that I am fine..and you??????

Emory, TX(Zone 8a)

Just fine... busy in the yard and greenhouse. Will your ears get better when the weather settles?
I enjoyed meeting you and hope we see each other again soon!

Yes they will..They are telling me that winter isn't too far off here..too much of a fall weather we have here..lol...

Emory, TX(Zone 8a)

It hasn't been cool here much. Cooler nights, yes... but most of the time it heats back up. I am tired ot the 90's... But I don't want cold either... LOL.. I guess I would like it about 75 all the time! Wouldn't we all though!!!

Hi Yardqueen 1948
I read your message about cats eating your Brugs and am quite surprised for cats usually stay away from them because they instinctively know they are poisonous. When I first got mine, I was very concerned about my darling cat eating them but that never happened.

I can relate to the Cat Damage! I have it horrible.. they are getting into buds and just destroying them! I have sprayed BT so many times I think I'm feeding them! I hope you don't have them as bad as I do here.. they start out just the size of dust.. by the time you can see them, the bud is toast.. (or the new growth)

ZZ, so far we found like one on each plant and killed them, but these are my smallest brugs. I am afraid they are going to eat them up before I can take care of it. I have not been able to get out there again this week-end partly because of not being home some and also partly because of a few physical issues. DH is also very busy with the greenhouse because if it is not finished in time the plants and the catapillars both will freeze! LOL On the other hand, if the cats keep eating the plants we won't have anything to put in the greenhouse anyway...LOL Just kidding... I am sure they won't manage to kill the brugs... Just make them real ugly!!!

Okay, I am confused I thought brugs were posionous....it doesn't effect cats?

Emory, TX(Zone 8a)

Happy,

We are referring to catapillars! Sorry for the confusion!

LOL....duh....can you tell I am a newbie to brugs....LOL how funny. Ya all probably think I am silly. I was lucky enough to get a big white on the plant trade list and then at the Midwest RU AuntB brought me 2 more brugs and I am so excited!
Well this will make me laugh for awhile.

Welcome, happygarden! You will love brugs and become addicted shortly!! This is a great place to come if you have questions getting started.

May you never have "cats" on your brugs!!!

Right now it is getting colder here so "cats" I am not worried about now but I am in hopes I can make it thru the winter after reading so much about mites.

Emory, TX(Zone 8a)

Happy,

Here is a link to some info on mites. It is rather long but very worth reading. I bought some of the Anti Stress 2000. I am very impressed with the findings from people who have used it.
