I have a friend who is raising over 100 Luna moth cats, she is going to parcel them out to different schools for a science project. They are small right now about 2nd instar.
She is afraid that when they pupate it will be late in the year, and if they eclose this year, there will be no food for them because the trees will be bare.
She is wondering if she should refrigerate the cocoons over the winter to keep them safe, and then bring them out in the spring.
If she does refrigerate them, how should she store them?
If any of you have raised luna cats late in the year in Texas and carried them over till spring successfully, she would appreciate your input on how to do it.
Thank you very much for your help.
Josephine.
