I just looked up and saw this goldfinch sitting on the hummingbird feeder .... I even opened the door to take the picture and he didn't move!
I want to be a hummingbird!
I was worried he was hurt, but when I snuck my camera right in front of his face - he was taking a little snooze lol ! - the last picture startled him and he flew to the birdfeeder (with sunflower seeds, not nectar!)

too true, so cute that he fell asleep there, I've never been than close to a goldfinch before, he was so fluffy
I'll start seeing them about December or January, where they will eat a fortune in thistle, and then they'll leave in a flash. They are so cute, even without their yellow.
it's really amazing how they change from that brillaint bright yellow to this drab color, isn't it? I put out sunflower hearts and nijer seed for them - I can't tell which one they like better, but they eat ALOT! Is nijer the same as thisle?
I'm not sure what thisle is lol I think it is the same as nijer.
I have one of those nets that they cling to upside down and a feeder that the feed holes make it so they have to turn upside down. It's so funny when they do that, have you seen those?
No! But I did just get a coupon from our local "Backyard Bird Shop" and they have everything, I'll look. I do have those socks filled with Nijer seed (slim black seed) and they do tend to hang upside down to pick the seeds out - very cute. For some reason tho, they seem to like my regular birdhouse birdfeeder, it gets the most visitors.
