Is anyone going this weekend to the Southern Ohio Poultry association meet in Lucasville Ohio? It is one of my favorite meets. You can get everything in the poultry family (chickens,ducks,geese,pheasants and every other thing you can think of) They also have lots of other animals like mini horses,cattle,donkeys and all kinds of exotic critters. There is also mixed in a lot of flea market venders and even plant people set up. They meet 3 times a year and i always come back broke after each meet. They also have an auction on Sunday to get rid of all the animals people didn't sell and don't want to take home you can get some great deals at the auction. The fall meet is the best time to buy animals because people don't want to over winter them and things are cheaper. I would love to meet some of you people there i just found this forum and just love reading and learning about your adventures.

Shoot! I just looked it up and it's about an hour and a half from me. That is the good news. The bad news is I'll probably be up to my biscuits in soccer tournaments. Grrrr.
Can anyone tell me when the first show in Lucasville for 2008 will be?

In April things are a little higher priced, but the critters are usually smaller and more types. In June there is the least amount of venders and people. Oct. is the best for prices. People don't want to over winter things or store their wares through winter also. The down side to Oct. is it is packed like the April show, but the weather is usually great and the deals are worth the aggravation.

P.S. On Sundays they have a live auction, so people can get rid of critters they don't want to take home. I have went home with many a "sack" of chicks and ducks for a buck.(they really do put 10-12 in a brown lunch sack)
Hi everybody = this is new to me but I have a question. Is the April show really on a Monday and Tuesday? I looked ahead to mark my calendar and that is what the 14 & 15 are.

The sciotocountyohio website doesn't appear to have updated this year's meeting. However, after a bit of researching I did find some information regarding the 2008 meeting. federal law is pullorum-typhoid papers for transport. don't know state laws...
AI and PT for PA but wasn't sure about ohio. i think we have to have those before they can leave state, the papers and their permanent leg bands from the pda. i'll have to call state vet to ask her sometime next week.
oh, yeah, forgot about AI, lol
Last year the nationals were in Columbus OH...sellers were required to have pullorum test papers
do u know when the nationals is or have any info on it? that is definately one we will be going to this year. i know it is usually in the fall.
