Hi JanLynn!
Hope you do not mind, but I was packing up some Purple Majesty seed for another DGer, and I looked you up in the addy exchange. I sent you some seed today, hope that wasn't too forward. I just thought I could get it out with other mail.
Sandy
P.S. moretz, If I may as to be so bold, if you have an abundance of Jester seed, could I get some ?? Pweeese?
Sandy-
Not a problem!!! Thank you so much for sending the seeds. I will mark this thread "closed" now and I truly don't mind...I do that all the time when I see someone looking for something that I'd also like. I noticed on your home page that you like Lilies---I'm gonna send you a dmail, OK?!
Jan
Sure!!! Be my guest!
I brought home about 3 'Purple Majesty' millet seed heads from my job at the Jacksonville (Florida) Zoo & Gardens. I got really great germination and have about 20 of the plants now in 1 gal pots. I plan to return them to the zoo for possible use in the zoo plant sales or to give away to coworkers.
I just broadcast the seeds on a tray of ordinary potting soil and covered them with a small amount of the soil. They popped up and grew in no time. The hard part was trying to separate them all to pot up into 1 gal pots. When planting them, I noticed that some of the seeds had already germinated and were beginning to grow roots while still attached to the seed head (but we have a very humid climate here).
That was about 2 months ago and the plants are already flowering and going to seed again. I think these plants are best grown as a temporary annual since they are so short lived, and just keep replanting them or let them self-seed if they can get established.
