Lantana - horrida or camara?

Rowlett, TX(Zone 8a)

How do you tell the difference between a Lantana horrida and Lantana camara? I know that the camara has a wide range of colors and that horrida is yellow/red. So then how do you tell a yellow/red camara from a horrida? I've spent hours searching the Internet and can't find a definitive answer. Even the photos in the DG Plant Files make the two plants look identical. Help! I have a red/yellow Lantana and before I give it to Josephine thinking it's a horrida, I need to be able to positively identify it. Are there any tips to make this ID easier?

I'm attaching a photo of one of my Lantanas. I bought it from Rohde's in Garland and it was labeled to be a Horrida. Is it? I'm so confused.

Well Carla, maybe this will help, one of the things that I have noticed is that Lantana horrida has coarser leaves than camara, and also horrida has a much stronger smell when you crush a leaf.
There is a lot od color variation in lantanas so that some horridas will have more orange or more yellow in their flowers.
With camara there is a big range of colors although the pink and yellow is the most common. So I would say you might recognize it by the coarseness and the strong smell.

I forgot to say that Horrida makes a lot of seeds that look almost like blackberries, while camara hardly any seed at all.

It is very confusing, though, isn't it? The Lantanas that I think are Horridas are blooming and berrying like crazy. The berries do resemble big blackberries, and the Mockingbirds just love them. I bought several Horridas from Rohde's this spring and one is definitely a Camara - it's pink/yellow, very compact (unlike the sprawling, massive Horrida), and isn't berrying much at all.

The lantana below was huge last year and berried like crazy. But all the rain we had over the winter coupled with very bad drainage killed him. He left lots of offspring, however, and they are now very big and healthy. I thought they were all Horridas, but after doing a little bit of research I wasn't so certain anymore. Josephine, thanks for the input. I will go home tonight and give them the "crush/smell" test .
