BOINC is an amazing thing. Home computers from all over the world lend their computers to resesarch when they arent being used by you. If you leave your computer on 24/7 please consider signing up. If you aren't familiar with the BOINC Projects you can read about it here:

I've been a BOINC member for many years .. the first project I worked on was Seti@home. I now crunch numbers for the Rosetta Project which is trying to find cures for diseases such as cancer and alzheimers and to the Einstein Project which searches for pulsars.
As soon as my new computer is finished I will attach it to a project that is searching for asteroids heading our way.
In the last 8 years, science has taken a beating and desperately needs your help. Don't let your comptuer sit idle when you aren't using it. Join in the global community of computers to help science. There are many projects to choose from, so please consider it.
