Kassia, and anyone else that was listening, this is a pic of the rose that won't be killed...
Promised pics of plants posted...
Here is a pic of one of my newer Hem's(daylilies)...H.'Monlit Masquerade' it might be moonlight...can't find the tag...but you get the idea. It wasn't, at the time of planting, supposed to be a good rebloomer...I believe the tag said something along the lines of "has a possibility of reblooming." Well, this is the third rebloom this year...First flush, covered in blooms that lasted about 3.5 weeks, then a cool down for about 2 weeks or so, then a smaller flush that lasted for about 10 days, then another cool down, and now this single flower, on one scape...lol....
Beautiful!
This message, and the following, are two pics of my hosta, and hosta mixed beds...I'm gonna have to get plant tags out to remember the names...
The pic is sideways, not computer literate enough to fix that, on the left side of the path is that rose bush with the yellow flower...pic is forthcoming...
Thom ~
absolutely gorgeous!
Anna wanted me to mention that if the DL you gave us blooms black, then you have won a special place in Sammi's heart!
If not, I can always dig more up next year...I think I have some mini ones. The garden center that I worked at did something silly, but I was like, YIPPEEE... When they overwinter their perennials, the owners sons help...guess where the plant tags go? EVERYWHERE...so, by right, the garden center can't really sell a perennial, especially daylilies, without knowing what it is, until after it blooms. So every spring there is usually about 40-50 daylilies with no names, I picked one up for 2.50...it was a tiny little black dayliliy with a little golden throat...it seemed to spread like a demon...So I may be able to divide that next year...no promises, but in case you get an agapanthus, and not a daylily...there's always more where that came from.
Awesome!! I know that Anna would love it. That's all she talked about at work today, she says. That, and all the great people she met at the round up. She's getting a lot of her co-workers interested in checking out Dave's Garden. Yippee!! The more the merrier, right?
Ab so posi tootely!!! I'm still trying to work on converting Paul...he just needs to get over his dirt phobia...
I wonder what that is actually called?
Mysophobia? I'm gonna google...and be right back.
Ok...
fear of dirt: Myso, or misophobia
fear of worms: Scoleciphobia
fear of bees: Apiphobia
fear of bugs: Entomophobia.
This is what happens when I'm typing and trying to think at 4am...lol
I just love it when I can learn new words!!!
LOL
I looked up "fear of weeds" and for some strange reason, it doesn't appear on the phobia lists!
I was trying to find fear of annuals...can't find that either...
Thom, your plants and composition are gorgeous. Nice going. Since the RU, do you think Paul has warmed more to the gardening idea?
Harper
And, what flavor of Ben & Jerry's did you crave? You see, I can ask because Anna works for a distributor ......
Paul loves plants...loves to smell them, loves to look at them, loves to appreciate the fact that I love them...BUT, he absolutely detests getting dirty...I usually don't even ask him to help me...because, I here, "Ack" "Uck" "Damnit" "Crap" "I got dirty" "I hate getting dirty" "Ack" that's usually just dawning the garden gloves...so I'm like, "GO AWAY." lol
As for Ben and Jerry's...OMG...
Cherry Garcia, Fish Food, Chunky Monkey, NY Superfudge Chunk, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough(Paul's Fav also)
Hemhostaholic, what kind of fern is that in post # 4059579? It's on the left.
I'm on a diet and choc chip cookie dough is my fave, Your killing me LOL!!!
Thom:
I'll check with Anna and see how we might get a supply to you of the B&J's that you and Paul love so much. Didn't you say that there was a Wegman's near to you?
Raggedyann...I don't know. I remember buying a box of "Mixed woodland ferns" and that was in the mix. The garden center I used to work at, the office managers name is Susan, is a woodland plant expert...I'll ask her. I think, THINK, I have more than one of them, I would not be saddened to part with one of them, or if there is a way to divide them, to do that for you.
Candyce, yes, there is a Wegmans very close to Paul and myself...we shop there for produce all the time...
Thanks Thom!!!!! I think you should get more roses ... that gorgeous daylily is asking for roses.... and believe me that are some thornless roses... you would be amazed...
well, maybe I will be traveling down PA next year too!!!! lol!!!!
If anyone want(ed)s too...you are all more then welcome.
Very nice Thom. Double digging is way too hard for me now, but it sure looks like your plants appreciate your hard work. Like your path through the hosta, pretty yellow rose too.
ooohh did I read Ben and Jerry????? oh my goodness... ice cream IS my favorite FOOD!!!!!
I had mentioned that Anna works for UNFI, which is a major distributor of Ben & Jerry's, so .....
You can ask your local major chain grocery store (Like Wegman's) to request shipments of it direct to your own store. I can just imagine Anna and I trying to get a case to you guys through UPS!!
