CLOSED: JRush please open a Plant Shipping Business

Port Vincent, LA(Zone 8b)

Hi Julie (JRush), I wanted to answer you in open forum instead of Dmail so you could see everyones reaction.

Hi everybody, especially the recepients of JRush's plants that we received for free. (postage) How wonderful it was to receive them!?

I asked Julie to please start a plant shipping business to help us all out.

Her answer was "I am not efficient enough. Yea OK. All of her little plants where packed liked a mother getting her little children ready to go on a trip and she sends a list with them of the special things that they like.
Then she said she did'nt have a greenhouse.
Well that makes sense. Can't grow em without a place. So I thought.
Julie isn't it possible to get a list together of plants that you could have ready to ship to us by next year at some point and let us Pre Order and prepay for them. I know from watching all of your post and replies on your thread "Downsizing For Autumn", and the way you kept up with everyones request, this would not be a problem for you. Anyway, with the Pre purchases , You could get your greenhouse and new babies and next year we can all have some more of these beautiful healthy plants like the ones you sent us. Please Julie. This would help us newbies especially. Of course you would have to do this in the Advertise section. But how awesome to be able to purchase plants from someone who sends such beautiful healthy "babies" as you call them. I mean really, you trusted us to send postage, we can surely trust you to send our plants. Hmm!! think about it.

How many of the DG family think that this is a good idea.?

Help a fellow DGer with a new business?? YEEES!

(Cathy), MO

I completely agree. Everything I got from her shipment was in perfect condition!

De Soto, MO

I vote yes. They were awsome plants. And to top it all off, she didn't want me to pay but 1/2 the postage of $10.20. You know I sent the whole amount of postage. They were all so healthy looking and I have not lost any of them.

Port Vincent, LA(Zone 8b)

OK I knew it. See Julie :)

Come on folks, where are the rest of you? We gotta help JRush get a greenhouse. I couldn't have found all the info she sent me on the plants. Julie anyone who puts bows on her babies should have a greenhouse and lots of babies to sell.

thanks again for my pretties!!

Debbie

Just keeping it visible :)

Thank you for your kind words - I am so glad that everyone enjoyed the plants. I know they will be cared for & appreciated, & perhaps shared with someone else some day in the future. It is kind of cool to think of it that way - that one little plant is making its way across America. Or perhaps only us plant addicts could understand that! Really - hearing from you all really makes this hobby (obsession?) worthwhile.
I know - How about a classified ad to help me out?
Here is my effort:
WANTED: Single, wealthy gentleman for lifetime commitment to a family of several thousand children. Must have integrity, acreage & enjoy playing in the dirt.

What else should I add?
Julie

"This position might also require unlimited extra hours during the spring and fall seasons"???:-)

Hi Julie ...
Oh my goodness ... I've just found this and well, you already know how awesome I think you are, :) but I'm putting it on record so everyone else can see. The plants I received are just beautiful and are out there on my patio being pampered and loved. They were, indeed, wrapped with pretty ribbons with typed instructions that were especially a nice touch. I'd love to help out a fellow addict. LOL
Hugs&blessings ... ~Susan

Waiting on that list Julie!

Julie,
About that ad...well, if the guy had a big greenhouse, that would be a plus, wouldn't it?

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Hummm maybe we are onto something here. We could pay for an ad to get JRUSH a husband already with a greenhouse!!! But if she is not crazy about that idea, I would pre-order to help with her greenhouse fund.

Port Vincent, LA(Zone 8b)

So Julie, what's it gonna be? I looked online for greenhouses. Home Depot has them. Maybe you could call the one in Fairfield (I think thats about 10 miles from you )and get the price, installed of course. And check to see about the heating and cooling thing. Then you can figure out how many orders prepaid it would take and whala....your in business. We are serious. You love to do it. We love to receive and we really need your plants so we can post beautiful pictures on DG.

One thing about it, you would be growing babies that you already know are going to good homes, cause we love em' and it takes the guesswork out of "will anyone really buy them".

Seriously, I would preorder

Guilford, CT(Zone 7a)

Now you are going to tempt me with those gorgeous pictures of greenhouses?
I found one in an ad in a magazine - cedar & glass, kind of a combo shed & greenhouse. Of course it is expensive, but I can dream, can't I?
Honestly - if I ever get back on my own, I will have a greenhouse, It is a requirement, for when I go house hunting. Someday.
But a gentleman WITH a greenhouse would suffice!

Hi Julie, well we are ready when you are,so just let us know. Thanks again so much for my pretty plants. All of them are doing great. Debbie

JRush
i made, well my hubby and i,made one out of pvc pipe it only cost like 100.00 we built up the bottom with blocks(which we already had from building the house) so it will be a little more then 100.00 to get the blocks you will need and it works great all i have to do it put plastic on it every 4 years because the plastic i buy last 4 years so i love it lol
i have a 16'X48' one that i am not using and if you could come and get it i would let you have it for what i have in it,lol but i dont think you would do that you live too far away lol but iwould make one out of pvc pipe

St. Louis County, MO(Zone 5a)

Columbia, MO(Zone 5b)

Great links Moretz!

OK Julie, I have my checkbook open............ :^)

Rose Lodge, OR(Zone 8b)

Julie, count me in too. Don't know nothing about you but would love to support such an endeavor for a deserving DGer.

And I buy a LOT of plants plus am considering doing a farmer's market next summer.

St. Louis County, MO(Zone 5a)

I think Julie is going to need several of those greenhouses because her business is going to go gangbusters!

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Moretz, thanks for the green house links, they were really informative and soooo tempting! I can just see the manager here at the mobile home park having a FIT though... so maybe at our NEXT house! I copied all of the links!

St. Louis County, MO(Zone 5a)

I keep looking at the old rusty shed thinking to myself, Cathy, that would be a perfect place for a greenhouse. My husband doesn't really NEED that shed, the only things in it are the lawn mower and a wheelbarrow, all the rest is just junk. I wanted to put a hot tub there, but a greenhouse, now THAT would make me happy. Nice concrete slab, nice and level. Cheaper than a hot tub, hmmmmmm. I think I'm going to take some measurements!

Guilford, CT(Zone 7a)

Now you all have me DROOLING over those greenhouses!
All those little pots with tiny babies, all trying their darnedest to grow & be big!
Thank you all again for all the kind words - I will have that greenhouse, someday! I daydream of all the possibilities, especially this time of the year, when I am hauling all my plants indoors for the Winter. Aching muscles & all :)
But it is kind of fun to just share them too. I have given so many plants to people, & received some of the most amazing plants in my trades. Plants that you would not see at a store or nursery - the oddballs & weirdos. But they have become so special to me. I think about 60 percent of my garden plants have come from DG'ers. I guess I owe a huge "THANK YOU" to everyone here!
