It's very pretty, Sylvia, but I did not give it to you. I'll bet Josephine will know. It looks like an aster to me.

asters?

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

Looks like some kind of aster to me.

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

It is the Texas Fall Aster, Symphyotricum oblogifolium, http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/76317
I may have given it to you, but i don't remember, yes it looks like it is going to be gorgeous.

I did not even see this one until we came home from groups, I love these and they spread like crazy - just the perfect plant.

Someone gave it to me at the spring RU at College Station. At first I thought it was boring, I thought the little heads on it was the extent of the flower. Saturday I saw the blooms on it and got so happy! lol I am going to move it to the front of the yard, some on myside and some on my neighbors. She loves it too.

It is a great plant... one of thsoe dig up a hunk and give away plants.

Fredericksburg, TX(Zone 8a)

That may have come from me Sylvia. I had some at the RU. They start fairly easily from cuttings. I'll probably have more at the next RU.

Are they always lavender like that? I have wild asters that grow in my lawn, and have wanted to ID them for years. But they're always white and bloom in the summer.

It could be this one, White Prairie Aster; http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/139146

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

Yep, that sure looks like it. Do you grow it, Josephine? I've always thought it was a weed!

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

No, I don't it is too small to handle. I took that picture at Pappy Elkins Park, they have a lot of wildflowers there, and I love wildflowers.
Josephine.
