Chickens here!

Lewisville, MN(Zone 4a)

My son decided we needed chickens. My stepson had way to many, so DS bought some & fixed up an old corn crib/granary for them. DW & DS went to pick them up this morning. They got 24. Some Barred Rocks, Americanas, & leghorns. These have been laying so hopefully we will have eggs!
Some are tough looking because they had roosters over there. No roosters here!

Do I have to do the "Chicken Dance" to join this group ? LOL!

Why yes, you DO have to do the chicken dance and a video must be posted.......
Welcome and congratulations on your chickens. Life will never be the same.

I see the picture, but nobody's dancing.

It looks like they will be glad to be away from the rooster!

Probably will be doing chicken dance tonight. I am going to a nieces wedding & that is tradition at the wedding dance.

No chicken dance at the wedding, I am throughly disappointed.

Getting about 20 eggs per day, Good Hens!!

Williamsburg, MI(Zone 4b)

I'd be dancing if I got 20 eggs a day....

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

That's just not right! We are only getting 9-10 a day! LOL

Maybe she dances for her chickens, just not us.

My son lays the law down to them ladies, Eggs or Else!!
We are going to take them to Farmers Market tomorrow. We are thinking $2.50 a dozen.

LOL Bernie! Maybe he should come talk to mine. :) I really can't complain. I've only had them since the end of April and they were day olds.

Hubby and I made it a point to check out the brown eggs at the grocery. They have a brand called "Cage Free" organic. They are size large eggs that sell for $2.99 per dozen.

Someone told me the people down the road sell theirs for $1.50. I've not had time to confirm it. I have not posted a sign yet or anything as I still need egg cartons. I did notice they've covered their sign the last week or so.

Bernie, Check around for egg prices in your area. We get $4 and some at our markets get $4.50. Other market they get $3?

Lewisville, MN(Zone 4a)

They were $3 at St.Paul Farmers Market yesterday.
Our market one sells for $2.50 but only has a few.
I'll be happy with $2.50.
