Passiflora loefgrenii 'Corupa'

St. Paul, MN(Zone 4b)

Hello All.

I am THRILLED to share pictures of my first P. loefgrenii 'Corupa' buds. They are a lovely reddish color. I can hardly wait for them to start blooming!

Look at how long the peduncle is! I measured it at 8" (20 cm). These flowers are going to put on an amazing show!

Congrats Erick. So happy you are getting blooms before you have to drag them all in for winter

Wow Liz, that's amazing!

Thank you Donna. No sign of the first frost yet!

I just checked, and the first bud is beginning to crack!

A couple hours later and the show is on!!!

I am mesmerized by how beautiful this flower is. It's exactly 4" (10 cm) across.

Another shot showing the next bud in line to the left.

And one more showing, again, just how very long the peduncle is. I won't get anything done today if I don't stop going out to look at it every five minutes!

Erick

P.S. The peduncle for the open flower starts at the very top edge of the picture, about a third of the way across from the left. In the very bottom left corner of the picture you can see part of the next bud to bloom - you can also see its full peduncle!

Wow that is gorgeous. What striking colors on that one.

Ok I am totally envious!!

One of the best features of this variety is it's ability to self fertilize. Pollen placed on an as yet unopened bud will almost definitely produce seed. It is also a prime candidate for crossing with other Passiflora. It grows like a weed and roots easily.

where did you get yours from Erick ?

Paul, I bought if from Liz. As always, I am thrilled with my purchase!

Thank you Kyle. I now have several flowers open every day, and 50+ buds developing. But our first first will soon put an end to the party. I already have a special spot set up my grow room to overwinter it.
