This maypop died last winter (I thought) but in the last couple of weeks it's trying to achieve a rebirth. I've mulched it and put a little trellis up for it. Anything else I can do? I would really like to save it if I can. I've never had one before so I'm a complete novice growing them. The first year I lived here it twined all the way up the post and over the bird house at the top. It had only one flower but it was beautiful!
Reborn passiflora, can it make it?
Ohh you and that poor little vine :) I know you are afraid to uproot it as it is so unstable and fresh but what about using thick mulch and maybe a blanket if frost hits you?
Even more mulch? Sure can do if it'll help. I was wondering about winter protection. We don't have frost forecast for at least the next couple of weeks but we got snow in early November the last couple of years so it's not too far away. Do you think a plastic cover tied to the post with maybe holes in it for moisture to get through would be winter protection? Sort of a jury rigged cold frame?
