Hello All.
This is the first flower from one of gordo's crosses, Incense X Temptation. I've been waiting for it to open for three days. The flower is at least as large as that of Incense, if not a tad larger. Very vibrant color.
I started it from seed last February - eight months ago!

A new Passiflora to celebrate the new forum....
Great job Erick!! Beauty

Those two shades/colors go well together. Very Nice.
I love that bright intense blue/purple ! Is it fragrant as well?
Thank you angel_tree_baby. I checked tonight, the second day the flower has been open, and I could only pick up a very light fragrance.
Erick
Erick that is beautiful!!!!!!!!! Congratulation!!
Very much worth the wait. Very Pretty.
Thank you Marie and dylancgc. I appreicate the accolades!
And thank you Liz. Because of your generosity in sharing a few (!) passiflora seeds with me, I am enjoying this Passiflora experience! Unfortunately, I didn't take a side shot of the first flower. I have another bud developing that is still a good week away from opening and will be sure to take lots more pics. After that, it will be awhile for blooms....I just cut the plant back and brought it indoors for the winter, so there will be some adjustment time for sure.

Liz, what a fun idea, but I wouldn't dream of it. It's your cross - I'm just the lucky guy who got to grow it out. I think Passiflora 'Gordo' has a lovely ring to it!

Erick...
If I were you, I'd see how well cuttings from it root. If they root easily, I'd hotfoot it on over to the IPS with photos in hand, notes accompanying and register it.
It is beautifully symmetrical, the colors are great, the reflexed petals are unique and it has good fragrance.
She's a winner!
Liz, you sure know how to make growing fun! Thank you for the kind encouragement. I will take your great and most helpful advice (as always) and work to root a few cuttings. I'm already thinking early retirement from the insatiable demand for this new Passiflora...do you think that's premature? lol
To give a bit more perspective, here is one more pic of the flower and plant from a few feet back. The plant is in an 8" clay pot w/a modified small tomato frame as a trellis. I am most impressed with this plant because it blooms so young, has attractive leaves, stays rather compact and tolerates lots of neglect.
The purple flower on the left is a silly petunia that I let grow in the pot.

Liz, not only are you a great grower and a kind person, you also have a fabulous sense of humor! I've been chuckling about your petunia comment all day. What a hoot!
I sure hope I have the pleasure of meeting you someday.
Erick
Well, Erick Sweetie, I appreciate your kind thoughts...
however, I am something of a Yoda and live in a cave beyond a knoll in an unnamed forest.
I have one eye, a game leg, no hair, a fat ear and I'm toothless.
A dog saw me naked once and passed out.
Call me what you wish - just don't call me late for dinner. :-)
I put a bag over my head just before guests arrive...a sweeping humanitarian gesture!
To your success! *ching* (a toast).
gordo, I was reading your self-description...you mean there is more than one of us?
