strelitzia nicolai seed propagation?

Bluffton, SC(Zone 9a)

how do i do it? what ways have yall had most success with, and how long did germination take?

Venice, CA(Zone 10a)

Bird of Paradise from seed- The offspring will have variable characteristics and can take 4 to 10 years or more to flower.

The seed has to be fresh (less than 6 months old) and, because of the hard seed coat, must be scarified.Scrape the outside of the seed with a file, just enough to break the seed coat.Lightly press the seeds into moistened seed starting mix, cover with plastic to maintain high humidity, and place in indirect light.

Bottom heat of 75-90* F. will speed germination and seedlings should emerge in 6-12 weeks.
