I have nearly killed one of those! lol It's coming back though, what pretty foliage but don't stick it in the shade with too much water :)

Mine is in shade..and gets rained on ...this isn't the only clump I have..got a bigger one tho..

Gotta be a big difference between Texas and NC, although we did have a very hot, dry summer. I watered it daily and had it in too large of a pot, too...admitting to total plant abuse here

uh oh! not dry hot summer here..I have had more rain this year than I ever had..last 2 weeks has been a sprinkle here and there but enough to keep my plants happy...lol

Hey cool, You know, I didn't realize this was the variegated shampoo ginger. DUH! Flowerjunkie and I just got this one. I really like it.

Wait til you see it blolom! That is what made me want this one. The mature RED pinecone looks vibrant next to the variegated leaves. It is truly something to have in the garden. I can't wait for mine to bloom.

WEll, I have the other one, the regular one ( who doesn't) LOL, but I never get red cones , always green ones. it's aggrivating, I wonder if I"ll get red cones on this one?

So what do ya'll do with ya red pinecones??? I cut mine and freeze them...so I can use them for my hair shampoo and body rub during the winter!

Judsonia, AR(Zone 7b)

WEll, ain't that a good idea . I've only gotten greenones so far, and I love to go up to them and squeeze them LOL Haven't done anything with mine yet, haven't gotten too many of them off the regular pinecone ginger.

And never have gotten red ones. it's disapointing.

I got a zingiber that is called beehive and I haven't seen the beautiful cones on that one either. got one called milky way and haven't seen the white cones on that one yet either. It' s depressing..........
