LF Cape Honeysuckle seeds/cuttings

Lytle (near San Anto, TX(Zone 8b)

I am am looking to find Cape Honeysuckle (Tecomaria capensis) seeds or cuttings. I prefer seeds as I've tried cuttings from my daughter's plant before it mysteriously died, and had no luck getting them rooted.

Thanks,
Judy

Hey Judy, I actually have some cape honeysuckle growing. This is my first year to grow it. It is growing pretty well but has not flowered yet. I am hoping it does before we get a freeze here. I don't think I can help you with seeds but if I get any I will try to let you know. I think it will just be a long while before anything like that happens. I just want to see the blooms once before winter since I have never had it before. I saw it blooming in the nursery though and it was gorgeous. Hope someone else can help you before I can.

Good luck with yours Judy. I hope it turns out beautifully. Mine looks like it might be going to bloom before cold weather hits. I hope so. I want to see it so bad. Although it is pretty unusual around here for a honeysuckle to wait until cooler weather to bloom. Maybe that is its nature, not sure. But hoping to see some blooms before a freeze anyway.

Glad you got what you wanted and have a wonderful day Judy.

Judy, Your daughters will have so many runners soon that you'll have all you want.Just put a runner up thru the bottom hole in a one gallon plastic pot and you can have a vigorous plant in a month. Here they a truely invasive.

My daughter's plnat died. We don't know what happened as it was doing great..she had it planted in one corner of her back yard next to the privacy fence and it had benn blooming and puting on new growth. It turned brown and died in a few days. The only thing we can come up with, is that a neighbor might have used some weed killer in that area and it got on the plant or in the ground where the plant took it up.

Does anyone have experience with the germination of the seeds? I just got some in the mail today and was wondering how successful they will be. And am looking for the best method of germination/planting so early spring, I can get busy with it.

Thanks,
Judy

Judy - Here is a link with info. Scroll down and you will see the info about growing them from seeds. I think they may be pretty easy to germinate and grow from seed.
