Variegated Brugs

San Antonio, TX

I have both the Peaches and Cream and Maya (I think). They are both variegated but I dont have an idea of what color the blooms will be. They are in the pre Y phase.

Anaid, another brugger and I are discussing these two variegated beauties... why do you think your's are different? Leave shape? Leaf Color? I've heard the P&C isn't as easy to bloom as Maya...

San Antonio, TX

I just wanted to know what color the blooms would be on each of them. Initially when I got the Peaches I didnt realize it wasnt the only variegated brug. Im glad it isnt.

Ultimately, they are both peachy/orangey colored. I don't have P&C, but Maya starts out with the buds being almost yellow before they unfurl. Then they are whitish/creamy and turn to light orange. I'm glad there is more than 1 too. Wonder if there's a pink variegated?

San Antonio, TX

So then they both will be the same color (with varieation ) Wonder if anyone who does hybridization can come up with a dark pink variegated one................. if I knew how to I would!

I haven't gotten that far.... maybe I will someday. Here's my Maya in all her glory... last flush for the year. . .

Snowbank is another variegated, but I think it is very finicky. (B. Sunset is another, but I'm not familiar with it at all.) I found this on another garden site from someone in the Pacific NW: They are posting about the Sunset, Maya & P&C......

(not quoted) - Maya will take the most sun, with P&C and Sunset being shade lovers here (PNW). Maya appears to have the fuzziest leaves and is the slowest grower of the 3. P&C has the deeper shade of peach color towards the end of the bloom period. With Sunset staying the lightest of the colors of peach.

There is a pink variegated. It's name is Miner's Claim. Your Maya is gorgeous.

Hi Shirley, Thank You I do recognize the name... I'll do some research on it or do you know it's characteristics? Sometimes they can be finicky and I just don't have time for a finicky brug. (haha)

I've only heard that it isn't a good bloomer, but haven't had it myself.

Big Sandy, TX(Zone 8a)

Miner's claim is the hardest to root and is the slowest to grow.

That doesn't sound to encouraging to me. lol Might have to reconsider wanting that one. Thanks, ken.
