Hi Lavina! The cuttings you gave me at the RU for the Night Blooming cereus are finally startng to root! I had 2 and cut them into 3 pieces each. Of those 9, 3 so far have tiny roots. I can't wait for them to get bigger!

Thank you so much!

I'm drawing diagrams of how and where I'm going to plant the flowers that are not in the ground yet. Too hot for me!! I used to say that I was a fair-weather gardener. Now I have to say that I'm a sundown gardener ... and it will change to a fall-weather gardener, then a winter-weather gardener, etc. That's the drift of my plans!! LOL

Hey ladies
I am retiring Nov. 30th. EDS has offered me a buy-out I can't refuse. Wahoo.
I will be moving to the Coast but will still have our Raleigh place.
If you ever want to visit just give me a call as we have a single wide next door and are putting in a camp gound on the other side of the single wide.

Glad you all are having good luch with the flowers.

Orange Juice, I want a green house.

Dragonfly I missed the molebean seeds.

Greenthumb I love the book on how to grow plants its a jewel. Hubby is also reading it I just wish he would mark my place before he starts looking each time.

((((hugs)))) all

Bought some pansies for the window boxes today.

This weekend, I'll be clearing space in the garage for some big plants that'll need to be in there when winter arrives; also starting a new raised bed so it can percolate over the winter.

Terri, didn't you bring the blue datura? Mine is blooming and beautiful! Crazy little thing:-))
Lavina, when do you leave for the coast? Congratulations on your early retirement! Don't leave your house here empty for too long...You'll never find it again for the wisteria;-)
Hey, Karin! Glad you're chatting!

bev,

yep, that was my Datura! So glad you like it, they are hungry little critters aren't they?. I have to feed mine every day, like Audrey Jr. in the Little Shop of Horrors, LOL!

Having a busy week here and in between chores/meetings/dr's appt.s I am hysterically moving all my containers out into the garden beds where they will get watered by the irrigation system for a while. We will be traveling a good bit over the next month and I can relax knowing things are being taken care of. The pots that are too heavy are on a drip system. You never know how many containers you have until you start moving them around. :-<

Terri, I will never see that beautiful thing the same again=> "Feed me, Seymour!" Guess I'd better get a bigger pot!! (And keep my fingers out of the way!) Too funny!

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

Lavina, you won't need a GH on the coast :) congratulations

I don't know about you, but it is still so hot here, 91 today, and at least where I am we haven't had any good rain in about three months. It seems that whenever there is rain in the area, it either goes to the north or to the south. We tried to dig a hole for a future persimmon tree - no luck. With a track hoe (borrowed) we got about 8 inches down.

So here everything is suffering. For instance, my caryopterises (three) are not blooming as well as last year, I guess to much stress, my dogwood looks pitiful, even though I watered it quite a bit.

I am going to wait till October to do any winter related work, except I am looking at seeds to wintersow.
I will do most of my planting then, persimmons, a couple of shrubs, probably a few blueberries.
