Eucrosia might mine be dying?

Chevy Chase, MD(Zone 7a)

My Eucrocia's leaves are all turning yellow and dying. Is that because it is at the end of its season, or is it really dying? I haven't changed its care. I probably overwater it (it gets the same watering as everying else in the yard), but it didn't seem to mind in the summer. I know it likes it on the dry side.

So far, the high this month has been 91 and the low 51 degrees. Mostly it has been in the middle. Everything else in the yard is going great guns. Is it possible the low of 51 degrees triggered this?

I have it potted in a fast-draining mix.

I got mine from Equilibrium/BTreasures coop, so it's a new plant for me. I haven't noticed yellowing on mine, planted inground, full sun.

That's where I got mine too. Your climate is much warmer than mine. I'll hope that mine is just getting ready for the winter.

I sent Chris a link to this thread, so that he can comment. I would be interested in knowing what if any winter care (for mt area and elsewhere) and want to know if he'll carry them next year. I thought they were fabulous looking.

Thanks for the link.

Yes, depending on your area, it may be going dormant by now. They like it Hot, Hot, Hot.

If your ground freezes they'll need to be lifted. If not, a good mulch will take care of them. Again depending on zone, they may start popping as early as March or as late as June.

Hope this helps, and yes we'll definately be getting them again next year. They have to be ordered by mid March in general, as that's the longest I can hold them in our heat.

Thanks,

Chris

Chris: Thanks! Mine are in a container. Can I just put the container in the garage for the winter? Will they need water over the winter? Light?

Valrico, FL(Zone 9b)

No water. No light. Just remove the excess soil, divide if you so chose, and store in a paper bag.

ooooh, are they multipliers? I really like this bulb.

Valrico, FL(Zone 9b)

They do multiply nicely. Most of the bulbs we ship, do. Once dormancy sets in, is a great time to divide. Additionally, nearly all of our varieties will go dormant in zones lower than 9.
