Candida Double White's first bloom just starting out

Jeffersonville, IN(Zone 6b)

I've waited since last year for this to bloom, and by the looks of it, it is definitely going to be worth the wait! Her second skirt has not dropped yet, but, hopefully that'll happen this evening....

Oh wow Felicia! CDW has kept me sane this summer.. never without a bloom! I hope she is that good to you now that she's established.

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

I'm here, simply admiring your brugs' blooms.

Pensacola, FL(Zone 8b)

wow me to.........

Greensboro, AL

keep us posted. such a beauty.

Jeffersonville, IN(Zone 6b)

Thank you! Imagine the smile on my face when I saw her this morning. Her corolla is so thick right now, it's like skirts of this flower are all just smooshed in there. I guess it takes a few times to perfect the blooming process. ;) She is very pretty, and I'm very pleased with her, and am glad to see she's got another one just about to bloom, with more buds coming every day.

Chickenville, FL(Zone 9a)

She is very pretty. I bet she just glows in the evening. That is one great thing about white brugs. Then of course I love moon gardens :P I am glad she finally bloomed for you, they seem to do it when they are good and ready ~kinda like my cat lol!

Jeffersonville, IN(Zone 6b)

Darn Lenette,
Had I actually been thinking, I should have planted moonvine seeds around CDW!! Next spring, I'll defintely have to do that. But, then again, maybe some purple kikyos for contrast.

I like moon gardens as well, and was 1/2 way thinking about starting one last spring. Maybe next year.

And, I completely understand what you mean about cats!! Don't look now, but the cat is about to eat the dog....

Teehehehehe, you were talking about colors contrast in flowers. How about sizes contrast for your cutie pies furbabies? lol. Picture's worth a Calendar's posting!

Greensboro, AL

there was a post somewhere here of a purple nicotiana with a white brug. Beautiful.

And she likes brug scent.. LOL

Joyce, that's kinda scary!! LOL!! Except one thing, Bouncer does not like to take the time to smell the brugs. I'll take him outside for my daughter (she's 10, and well, if I wait for her, my house would be destroyed!), and I'll put his nose up to a bloom, and he'll just look at me like I've lost my mind -- kinda like my daughter does. :)

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

Tweety.. aka "TuTu Dog" is a old lady like me and we are loosing our minds together. LOL

Jeffersonville, IN(Zone 6b)

Ok, that would be Taz (my cat) and I. He's ... hmmm .... 14 1/2 now. But he's not allowed to go outside, because he freaks out too much. :)

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

Your dog is a boy and you have a daughter 10? My dog is a girl and I have a boy 14. LOL

Victoria, BC(Zone 8a)

You guys! It's like the twilight zone! LOL!

Jeffersonville, IN(Zone 6b)

Hmmm .... wow, Teresa, you're right!! OMG, It's almost downright scary. Actually, I can think of one other thing Joyce and I have in common.... we're actually growing out the same cross and get very upset when we see the buds fall off this cross.

Chickenville, FL(Zone 9a)

Love those doggie photos! How cute you both have the same dog lol.
I think purple and white flowers would look great together. I had moonflowers, cestrum nocturnum, mandevilleas, Indian night jasmine, and brugs all planted together last year. It really attracted the hawkmoths in droves. They even pollinated one of my mandevilleas and one had a seed pod for me this spring. That was the first mandevillea I've ever had seeds on. Here's a few photos of the seed pod.

The above photo actually had two that stuck up like horn lol, before the wind blew them off. Here is the harvested pod and seeds.

Close up of the Indian Night Jasmine flower. I just love the bright orange. This plant tried to start seeds last year but they all got blown off by the wind. It was the first year I had it and I wonder if it was really mature enough to set seed. Anyhow it smells just like regular night jasmine (cestrum nocturnum but has a less intense fragrance and a little more honey scented).

Wow, that is quite a combination!! And, what a cool looking seedpod on the mandevilla. I bet the smell of them all was pretty amazing!! And, you Indian Night Jasmine is very pretty. Any pictures of it all together in bloom?

This is what the purple kikyo that I want to plant with CDW. I have it growing on Isabella, but it didn't do so well this year because Isabella is in too much shade for kikyo's liking. Luckily, I got a few seedpods from the kikyo, so I'll have seeds for next year.

indiana-lily,
Please post another picture of the double white when the bloom has fully opened. I love the look of the doubles.

Victoria, BC(Zone 8a)

Oh my gosh, Indiana Lily, that's one super cute bloom!

Jeffersonville, IN(Zone 6b)

Isn't the morning glory bloom cute? And with purple being my favorite color, it couldn't go wrong. :)

Louise, doesn't look like the 2nd skirt is going to drop. It's just too crammed in there. :( And the second skirt on my second bloom is simply too short. I think it's still trying to work itself out. All hope is not lost though, because I've got more buds on it, and hopefully, it'll figure everything out before frost hits here. When it does, I'll definitely post pictures!

Chickenville, FL(Zone 9a)

Don't know if I got a shot of all together. I will have to dig through all my photos :) I have a pot ghetto of sorts going on here lol. I moved here from LA last fall and I still don't know where everything is lol.
I really need to plant those mandevilla seeds, It should be interesting I had red, white, and 2 kinds of pinks all in close proximity.

Your japanese MG is gonna look so cute with your brug in the moongarden.
The moonflower vines , grow big tubers in the pots and I overwintered them in the garage and they seem to bloom a lot sooner the next year- like in May. When I grow them from seed they don't flower till about July. Lambs ears are great in the moongarden too, they look silvery in moonlight. So is night blooming cactus .
We should all have moongardens next year and post photos :)

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

No Felicia, purple is MY favorite color! LOL

Jeffersonville, IN(Zone 6b)

"Pot Ghetto." I like that! If you saw all the used and unused pots on my patio, you'd probably just shake your head and walk away. Yeah, that would be me.

So, you overwinter your moonvine? That's interesting, makes sense though. A neighbor gave me a pot with an elephant ear and moonvine growing together in it, a friend at work gave me a night blooming cereus, and I've got 3 double brugs that are all white. Hmmm .... sounds like I've got a good start anyway! Lambs ear sounds interesting mixed in with that...

Alright, Joyce. First it's the dog, then it's the same seedling, then I see you like the same cross as I do that Shirley has (Luminosa x Whiskers), and now purple?

Victoria, BC(Zone 8a)

Hey I love purple too! ;-)

As a kid my favourite colours were blue and red. I never admitted which I liked the most, cuz I didn't want the other colour to get jealous.

Red AND blue, make purple. You just gotta love it.

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

LOL
well, I'll say it first just in case.. Jasmine is my favorite fragrance since I can't spray brug fragrance on me.. I love Jasmine. LOL

Too funny Teresa!
I giggled about this earlier today..

Jeffersonville, IN(Zone 6b)

You know, Teresa, it's wonderful how your old two favorite colors blended to make your new favorite color! They probably did that since you didn't want to show favoritism!! Kismet, for sure!! ;)

Aha! Although Jasmine is very nice ZZ, I really like the scent of Gardenia, or Magnolias or even Whiskers .... mmmm ....

Victoria, BC(Zone 8a)

psssssst - I have to whisper this, so that the colours don't get ticked off.

Cobalt blue is totally stunning!

BUT, if you look at it closely.... it's a gorgeous blue with a touch of purple in it. Yummmmm!

I'd give up ALL of my hybrids - for a brug that could produce cobalt blue flowers!
