Question about Yarrow Plants

Midway, TX(Zone 8b)

I didn't get to care for my gardens well this summer due to illness in the family. I was gone a lot.
My yarrow looks terrible. The above ground stems look totally dead. Do you think it will come back from the roots? I sure hope so.

Yarrow is very resilient, especially the wild kind, water it and you have a very good chance, at least I hope so.

Earlier this summer mine got pretty ratty and I whacked it pretty close to the ground. It's now about 6" and blooming some. I think you can pull out the dead stuff and watch it recover. Water it, like Josep says.

I agree with the others, yarrow is very forgiving...I would be very surprised, if it doesn't rally.

As Voss said.....mine was really bad about a month ago. cut it almost to the ground and now it is all pretty and 6-7 inches again. It can get up to 18" if I leave it alone and will spread through the roots till it is invasive. Just a bit of root will transplant and multiply anywhere you want. Almost impossible for the elements to kill it.

Ahhhh... I fit into that "almost impossible" category. Had a friend give me starts of yellow, dusky rose and white. It took two years at the outside and they were terminal!

OTH, Dancey ~ you haven't had me there messing with them so I feel the rest of these good DGrs are correct ~ they will be baaaccccck! LOL

Sorry I was so late getting back to my thread.

Thanks for all the good advice. I have cut my plants back and will wait and see what happens. I have them planted in an area that is okay for them to spread. I just love their blooms.

Pod you're too funny! ;)
