I love Oglevee..............they are so strong and healthy.........(spelling??????)
I love that, Starfly! I haven't grown streps before, but have always admired them from afar. I think I might be getting my chance to grow them real soon thanks to a dear heart here on this forum!
Starfly: How are you doing? Haven't seen you post in a few days .... sure hope you are okay and getting better every day!
We miss you!
Oh, Eunice .... they are so Beautiful! I especially LOVE that one called Pink Souffle! Pink is my favorite color and when you first posted the name of that one I had to go search for a picture ... it is Gorgeous. Of course I love Purple Flowers too ... and Red and White and Yellow.
I have heard mention lately of a SCENTED Strep!! Does anyone have one with fragrance? I am real curious to hear more about!
Oh, I had to go look to see what the flowers look like on the AV Optimara 'Maui' .... look at how pretty! I love the edging on these flowers!

Eunice: Everything looks Absolutely Wonderful! Great Growing!
Wow!!!!!!!!! You are back in business Eunice!!!!!!!! Fantastic plants you shared............
Eunice: It looks like you have a regular plant nursery there! Look at those babies you've grown from seed! Isn't that just the best feeling? You are doing really good!
Eunice..Everything looks simply wonderful! The bottom center av in the pic of the ones from mrsbonnie... I just Love that foliage. You are going to have a full house before long the way it looks..Happy Growing : ))
Eunice: I cannot give advice on Strep's at all since I have not had much luck with them. The yellowing in the leaves could be too much fertilizer, sun burn from too much light, too much water, not enough water .... at least that's the case with a lot of plants. Narrowing it down is the thing. That Strep looks good to me with all those blooms! Your Alsobia Cygnet looks wonderful too. I have one I got from Allison at the beginning of this year. It has grown but nowhere near as much as yours!
Those Alsobia's look great! I have a basket of Alsobia dianthiflora that is looking pretty pitiful. I think I might repot it this afternoon to see if it will do better before it croaks totally!
if you want one of these be glad to send it to you, i have some more down
oh yes it looks great,,there the easiers plant i can grow
don't have to do nothing to them.
My Alsobia Cygnet has done much better since moving it out on the deck. I don't know what the problem is with the other one!
i only have one windown i can grow anything in and thats my liveing room, but now the campher tree has got so big i don't get enought light
so now everything in back bedroom with shop lights, don;t really like them
i can never tell if to much light are not enought. what does the Alsobia dianthiflora look like
Eunice I wanted to say "Welcome Home" you were very missed :)
My name is Kim and I'm kind of new to this forum. I have been on Dave's for 4 years but only lurked here because I don't grow AV's. I recently discovered Streps and like you, the ladies have all welcomed me with open arms.
I am trying to grow babies from leaves for the first time and have some beautiful babies from the WONDERFUL women here.
I find this is really the only forum I follow now and it just feels like home here.
I am SO GLAD you came back and really look forward to chatting w/you :)
Kim
This is the BEST place in The Garden!
Starfly............I don't know a lot but it appears to me that there is a mineral deficiency of some kind...........in Space Dust (name?).........I would repot it and make sure that the fertilizer you are feeding it has all the trace elements you need for a well balanced fertilizer...........just changing the soil may do the trick.
when I over fertilize with a high second number to make my streps bloom a lot..........sometimes I get too much and the edges of the leaves turn brown..........streps are sensitive to fertilizer...........but your surely looks like she is missing a well balanced fertilizer..............
hello Kim
finally we meet, well i see your getting a big habit to. boy they sure do grow
on you.
not just the plants but these ladys to. there the best.
this is my first time growing from seeds, can't stop peeking at them to see if there up.
i have a couple streps leaves down,my first ones dryed up .hope these take roots,
now i want to get some strep seeds and try.
i get so tickel when i see a little ear sticking out of the dirt
i want to uncover them. have fun growing
gessiegail
i was afraid it might be the fertilize., i use vf11 and it says .15-. 85-. 55
i make it weaker than what it says
but i don't use it everytime i water
what would be the best to use,i have 3 are 4 different ones,
but i don't change them up.
someone sent me some msu tap water special
not sure what to do with it there was no direction, just came from a web site.
ok i will repot it, thanks eunice
I have a whole case of Eleanor' fertilizer........don't water it down........it is so weak already.........I use all the time at the advice of a professional av grower 12-36-12...........It is made by Hill Country African Violet nursery............when I go up the first week of November I will be bringing lots of it back to ship to you all...............in the meantime, go get you some regular Schultz 20-20-20 or the African Violet Schultz liquid (the Schultz's is also a liquid)...................The only time I use Eleanor's food is when I have been over fertilizing..............I know it says not to use with anyone other food.......if I did that, mine would never bloom.................
*******always remember that I don't really know these answers........just saying what works for me...............
hey it works far you,so i will give it a try
i have some schultz but mine is 8-14-9
its called african violet plus micronutrients
will look far the 20-20-20
thanks Gail
