orange spots on my gingers

Merritt Island, FL

I have a traditional red ginger that I started from a small tuber I bought on Ebay (from Hawaii I think) and it has developed some orange spots. What could it be and how shall I deal with it? Help appreciated!

my guess is that you have rust, which you can treat w/ a fungicide. Makes my plants ugly but it's not fatal. excessive humidity/rains is isually the culprit.

Is this also rust? I have seen rust on cannas, the raised orange powdery looking stuff, but I'm not sure this is the same thing. These spots are in the leaves, maybe they are supposed to be like that?

There is a natural antifungal in eveyone's kitchen....sprinkle cinnamon powder on your plants...or equal amounts of garlic powder and diatomaeous earth-food grade in a small shaker can..sprinkle that stuff on ya plants...
