I am a newbie to brugs and just purchased a Painted Lady and KBS. I am so excited to have three buds on my PL already. I am worried now though, since I felt the buds today, which are about 2 inches long and they felt empty. Is this how they are supposed to feel?

The calyx is usually longer than the bud is. Don't fret! What you can do at night is take a flashlight and shine it on the calyx, and you can see the shadow of the bud inside. Or, even do this during the day with sunlight. :)

Don't worry.. they will feel empty for a long time! At 2" long, the actual flower is about 1/4" long so you won't feel it inside.
This is part of your initiation process to your new addiction.. it feels like you will go crazy with anticipation, but don't worry.. that's natural. LOL Welcome to the wonderful world of brugs!
Thanks for the welcome. I became addicted to them on Dave's looking at the beautiful pictures everyone sends in and had to have them. Now I feel like an expectant grandmother. I am surprised at how early I am getting buds I didn't expect any buds until next year. I didn't think the plant was big enough, only about 3 ft tall. I CAN"T WAIT!!!
As another new Brug grandmother, I know and feel you excitment and anticipation!! These are truly addictive plants!!

Your Painted Lady is a nice brug and will get much bigger. It's one of my favorites. Nice pictures and I'm so glad you had success right out of the starting gate. Sometimes people get frustrated with their first one and the best thing anyone can do is just keep trying. I'm happy for you.
