I have one passiflora in a mostly shady spot. I got one bloom last fall than it died and didn't come back this year. I cut it to the ground in June but now it's coming up from the roots. Should I try to dig it up? We'll be getting frost in a few weeks and I'm afraid that will finish the poor thing off. This was here when I bought the house so it has to be at least fours years old. Do the roots go very deep?
Passiflora - now what do I do?
Since you say it has been there for 4 years tells me you probably can't kill it off and it will continue to come back. I recommend a thick layer of mulch to help insulate the ground. Instead of uprooting the whole thing, maybe you can take some of the growth I see and root it indoors? Depending on the type of passi will determine if you have long suckers underground.
