Liz is really gorgeous (and not just because it's named after me! LOL) I like Envie and Gator Pride too.

Don't think I'm going to have any blooms today--it has been raining most of the morning and everything's looking a little wet. I'm bummed, Lost Treasure was finally starting to open but now the rain made it close up again. I took a pic yesterday when it was partway open, so I'll post that later.

I like them all. Liz would be my pick for the day.

I've got to go with three favorites, because I just can't choose today! I like Liz, Envie & Wallflower. I'm so anxious for my Envie and Wallflower to bud up and bloom :-)

I've got a few today in the rain. It's been raining so much today, I think my plants don't know what to do, half of them have never seen rain before ;-)

First up is a very pretty Soft Spot. I'm not sure who said that the rain made the colors brighter the other day, but after seeing a couple of my blooms today, I'd sure agree.

Gator Pride was trying to hide.

Love Story's little bloom is at ground level, but still pretty.

Mango Tango's petal shape is a bit wacky in the rain.

My last and favorite today is another outstanding Night Fire bloom. This is so cool, I'm going to post a close-up too :-)

Here is my meager offering, Bon Temps. Its main claim to fame is that it is planted with a lantana and it is a perfect color match. I felt to chuffed for I was so color coordinated with this one. Usually my yard is a mass of clashes.

Nothing meager about that bloom, Kell Looks great with the lantana :-)

Hey, I don't remember which thread this was on, but you asked if HVH has open houses in the spring - I looked it up and they start in May. Maybe a group of you No Cal girls can come, it would be sooooo fun!

I would love to plan a trip down there so that I can come down for one of them--are they always on a certain day, like the last Sat of the month, or does it vary? Hopefully they're on a regular schedule, that way it'll be easier to plan.

Yes, they're always on the last Saturday of the month, May through October. The next one is next Saturday, and I'm really hoping to be able to go, since I know I can't go to October's (I'll be working a conference that weekend)...I'm telling myself that I won't get any plants though, just some dirt, lol ;-)

Oh boy. So where is their website? I want some of that ever so brightly colored dirt too!!

Possibly June or July next year I'll try to come down for the open house--I'd definitely love to go to one! Maybe DrDon would be kind enough to plan the SoCal roundup on the last Sunday of one of those months, then I can go to the open house and the roundup!

Your rose is beautiful. I tried to grow one, in my old house, but the thorns kept trying to eat my hands! I envy anyone who has the patience to grow them....I don't!
Besides my hibs, I have a butterfly garden (actually 2) in the front of my house. Lots of Penta's, lantana's, straw flowers, etc. But, aside from my crown of thorn's, none of them have thorns, thank goodness.

I love roses, and would have more (I have 17), but my DH just doesn't like them. Can you imagine not liking roses? In my garden, pretty much everything is mixed with everything. The majority of my roses though, are in their own little section. When we got our backyard done, I told him I just had to have at least some, and poured over the Armstrong pre-order catalog deciding which to get. When they finally arrived I was so excited and put them in the order I wanted and proceeded to (try) and dig holes. What I didn't realize though, is that when our block wall fence was put in (previous owner), they were super sloppy with the concrete. Well, end of the story is that Dave, despite his not-love of roses, had to jackhammer a whole for each and every one...I'm happy to report that they're all happy and beautiful :-)

BTW, that Elizabeth Taylor is by FAR the thorniest rose in my yard...

Don't you love Crown of Thorns? My mom had a real small little pink one, and I thought it was just the coolest, so of course, I had to seek them out. I've got three - two small, and one that is quite large - I love them, plus once I found out the name, I liked them even better - appeals to my gothy side, lol ;-) With the black tip fingernails, me gothy? never ;-)

I love my crown of thorns. I have a red one and a yellow one, and they certainly add a certain "something" to the look and feel of the yard. If they didn't get so huge (years down the road) I would get several more.

Rosalind is a beauty. Mine blooms with a little more orange. This week mine will go to the basement. I'm going to miss all those blooms.

Converted brown-hater, here, lol..... They are all beautiful, nice pics, too! I LOVE Cherry Cola... Mine from Mark bloomed yesterday! It was small and it had an "extra", 1/2 petal on it's "polen" holder.... (stamen? sorry I just grow em) like Karen's pic of Blueberry Thrill has that little petal thingy coming off.... what is it called when they have that? I liked the swirly effect it gave the ugly brown bloom.... I mean GORGEOUS coloring and swirl effect, too! Is Cherry Cola supposed to have it? Maybe it's because it was the plants first bloom? I like both those Rosalinds!
And NO rose pics on the Hib forum, PLEASE (Karen, nice try)! lol, I've never cared to grow roses, my aunt's all think they are the cat's meow, but they seem too picky about fungus, bugs, food...... and they are prickly, I get scratched and it hurts.... so, I just CAN'T have, yet another plant addiction... you guys have enabled me into LOVING some of the brown hibs.... I'm just saying "NO" to roses! They are very beautiful, though.... (no, no, no - just practicing)

Kell, if you're pitching that Bon Temps this winter........... It IS #1 on my Spring MUST have list ;) Looks stunning with the lantana!

Oh Cat, you just do not hang out too close to your rose bushes! LOL. I have so many and they are planted so close together, I get creamed when I have to get in the center to prune them. But nothing is as gorgeous in the spring when they glow with the freshness of all new leaves, canes and of course blooms. I have more roses than anything else. And this winter when many of my various bloomers bit the dust, the cold only served to make my roses rise up from winter with such vigor and beauty, I was in heaven.

Karen, your DH is a keeper for sure. Jackhammering holes in concrete is an act of true love! Is crown of thorns a euphorbia? Here there is such a show going on with new euphorbias in new colors and huge blooms. I will look for a picture to see if we are talking about the same thing.

AuntB, I am not pitching it but it may vacate this life on its own. My winters are so wet and cool the hibiscus hate them. But only the hibiscus in my yard. LOL Neighbors have huge bushes of them.

Here is part of my rose garden for a second in time this last spring. It has not looked as good since. LOL

A garden view cannot get any better than yours, Kell. So many blooms in tandem...
