Should I plant clematis this fall in MN?

I have never grown clematis, but I'd like to try one or two. If I plant within the next couple of weeks, will the plants survive the winter? Or would I be better off planting next spring? Peg

Your clematis should do just fine if planted in the next 2 weeks. Just water it regularly to help the roots get established before winter hits. I just moved one last week, planted another one, and have another one to plant also. I just have to get some plants to put around that one for a bit more shade.
