I saw a Gold Coast City on this website but not a Gulf Coast City. Typo maybe?

Hot Springs, AR(Zone 7b)

Hi

Gulf Coast City is not it and they seem to no longer have my double peach. Here is a photo of what mine looks like in bloom. http://www.lakeareanursery.com/hibiscus/HibiscusDblPeach.jpg

I am very interested in both your hibiscus. They are very easy. Just measure seven inches from the tip of each stem and cut, remove all the leaves except for the tiny new leaves at the top. Then wrap the cut ends with paper towels. Wet the towels then enclose the whole thing in a large zip lock bag and mail. The zip lock bag acts as a little green house.

What can I send you?

College Station, TX(Zone 8b)

Ok I'll get onto it this evening. The Lavendar Chiffon and Smokey Mountain are pretty. Either/or would be nice.

Kingston, OK(Zone 7a)

Have this one. Do not know the name.

I'm very new to hibiscus but would love a variegated one. I have this one I could take cuttings from, but you'd have to walk me through the process.

blpender,

Is that hibiscus a double orange?

TARogers5,

I would love to trade cuttings with you. I don't know its name but I know I don't have it.

AuntAnne,

I can send you cuttings of both hibiscus.

College Station, TX(Zone 8b)

Is it ok if most of the cutting is green, or does it need to be woody?

Anne

Dowagiac, MI

Yes, it's a double orange, but it's more "sherbet" orange, than pumpkin orange. I'll try to get a better picture today and send it to you privately.

This picture shows a more accurate color on the double orange. I also have a single, bright orange with a pink throat but it isn't big enough to take cuttings yet.

Daisy,

I have the disco belle pink. It is a hardy bush. Mine grows to be about 4' tall.

Would you want some starts of it?

Let me know.

Lisa

PS I can email you a pic if you would like.

Should these cutting be green or woody???

Hot Springs, AR(Zone 7b)

Tip cuttings are best. But woody cuttings will root as well.

Flowerjunkie: are u interested in my chinese lantern?

Dowagiac, MI

Anaid,
My double orange is little. I'll be happy to give you some cuttings next year, when she's a little bigger.

Anyone,
I received some cuttings yesterday, with no istructions on the best way to root them. Can someone help me out, here. I'm very new to tropical hibiscus. These guys are a little wilted, and I sure don't want to lose them.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I just remove all the leaves except for a couple on the very tip. put them in water, change the water every two or three days, and wait for them to grow roots. I have tried other ways but this works for me the best.

Dowagiac, MI

Thank you. Do they need a plastic "tent" to keep in the humidity?

(Linda) Winfield, KS(Zone 6a)

I don't use one when they are in water. Now if you are going to try to root them in soil yes. But I have never had any luck doing it this way. I only have a very small amount of a green thumb. But I have read where others do it that way and have great luck.

Hot Springs, AR(Zone 7b)

I take the cuttings and put them in any type of soil...what ever is handy but not dirt from your yard. I keep them moist in a well ventilated area and they root. I can not root anything in water because it rots on me before two or three days. LOL!

Cocoa Beach, FL(Zone 10a)

2pugdogs, Are you using regular tap water, and are your cuttings outside in sun or shade, or in a greenhouse?

(Linda) Winfield, KS(Zone 6a)

I have them in regular tap water sitting behind my kitchen sink faucets.

I only do a few at a time.
