When will Einstein crow??

Fowlerville, MI(Zone 5b)

After The Colonel wouldn't stop attacking me (I found him a new home with a 4H teenager), I got a White Crested Black Polish chick - who turned out to be a rooster - who I named Einstein; hoping that if he couldn't see me in front of him (feathers blocking his vision) that maybe he wouldn't attack. ……So far, so good.

Well....Einstein is now 4 months old. Could someone please tell me (when) he will start crowing?? ...And please don't tell me that WCBP roosters don't crow.

Thanks a bunch!

Not sure about different breeds, but all of our roosters were just starting to crow around 4-5 months. It was 6 months before our current rooster was crowing on a regular basis. Either way...it should be any day now. Good luck~

Our silkie dudes started making themselves vocal around 16 weeks if I remember right. One of them does it all day long. Ahem. One of our neighbors said "Now I know I live in the country". LOL

Thanks everyone. For the life of me, I couldn't remember when The Colonel started crowing. The Colonel was my first and only rooster until Einstein came along.

CC, I've done everything (I) can do to give Einstein something to crow about!! He has a voluptuous seven-hen-harem around him constantly.

…..Maybe I need to trim HIS feathers out of his eyes???!!! LOL

PS: Tina's a "new woman" now that she can see! The feather trimming went great and she has stop running into Eunice the RIR.

I agree with the others. Since he is the only Rooster and probably the only one in your neighborhood, He hasnt heard another Roo crow, so he isnt communicating with any one claiming territory. With Hens around though , he will surely start very soon letting them know hes the King of the Hill!

I do have a rooster who crows his head off all day right across the road from me! Einstein can hear him. Hopefully, he will "get the drift" soon.....
Heavens, I've even started crowing at him and he just looks at me.
Sigh... ~:>

LOL

Still thinking about what CC said. Maybe you could make little chicken bikinis for the girls?

Maybe hes just a slow starter! Once you grow up its allllllll work from then on!

I know the day mine started crowing it was when he was next to me as I started the chain saw. Every time I would pull the string he would a little cluck along with it. As soon as the saw started he did too...

Gotta get me a chain saw.... I'll put that on the "to do list". ;) LOL
