Can anyone tell me what's to be considered as the best fertilizer for Plumeria?
Thanks in advance.
Best Plumie Fertilizer?
I don't know about the best, since I am brand new to plumerias, but I'm using Buds and Blooms by Rabbit Hill Farms. It has alfalfa, molasses, green sand and all kinds of other goodies in it. Two weeks after I used it the first time I had my first info, though it hasn't bloomed yet. I wish I had used this first thing in spring. I sure will next spring.:)
Teresa, this is a super good thread with great information: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/692567

The more I read, the more confused I get! I read this, this afternoon:
-----
When fertilizing Plumeria you should use a high Phosphate fertilizer (middle number), like Peters "Super Blossom Booster 10-50-10". If you use a fertilizer high in Nitrogen then you will make a healthy but tall and leggy plumeria. Plumeria in general only branch when they bloom, therefore you must use a fertilizer that will promote the most blooms. Which in turn makes the most branches. If you find a Plumeria full of branches, then you'll know it's been a good bloomer.
( Summary )
Blooms = Branches & Branches = More Blooms
Use a high Phosphate fertilizer
at least every 2 weeks during the growing season.
Yes I read that too, but I decided along time ago to stick to organics, so i was excited to find Buds and Blooms. It works for me so far.
Teresa, bloomboosters used to be recommended, but they are not anymore. The posts by Kukiat and Luc are the best recommendations that you will find for plumerias. Both men have Ph.d's in horticulture, and both grow hundreds of plumerias. Luc relies on accuracy because he makes his living selling plumerias. I just added pearls of wisdom from Luc on that thread that I linked to. Luc's advice is at the bottom.
Thanks Clare. What I read was probably old information. That's the problem with the internet. I must pay more attention to dates. ;-)
It's not that the other is bad, but all that phosphorus just ends up going to waste because the plant can't take it up. The third number is what should be the highest for blooms.
