I purchased this one begining of summer it did not have a name tag don't know if has name nursery was going out of business, I have been watching it for a couple weeks and today was the day!
New bloom Don't know if it has a name
That's a beautiful pink. Looks like you'll get to enjoy them for a while, too. :-)
It's a beauty, Dana. Did you get it from Rich? It looks a little like 'Key West Pink,' but it is nearly impossible to identify a cultivar from a photo.
Very nice. Has the flower set grown since the 19th? Would enjoy seeing another pic of what it looks like now. Thanks again
Davie
Yes it has really got going.Tomorrow I'll see if I can't get out there and post a another picture thanks. I bought this one in Ruskin Fl going out of business no tags I bought 4 plants from these people First to bloom was a Aztec Gold and this is a Key West Pink its a nice surprise when you don't know the colors when you buy them. Waiting on the other 2 to bloom.
I take alot of pictures and from spring to now its neat to go back and look and see how well everything has grown. I save the egg shells dry them out and put them in a coffee grinder add it to peters or what every i'm spraying. They really seem to like it. Anyone who uses superthrive I was buying it from walmart little pricey. Checked it out on ebay if you use alot worth buying a quart savings in the long run and you don't run out.
Dana, I like your Maya2 very much! Bayleton is probably what Robert was using. It's made by Bayer too, I think. I used to use Superthrive, but I switched to Vitamin B-1 which is much cheaper, and it is the same stuff pretty much. I pay around $5 per gallon, but I only use it after transplanting.
Lookin' good, Dana! Thanks for sharing these! You have a lovely yard.
Thanks Clare thanks for the b12 I'll have to try that. I usally add the superthrive to the every other week fertilizer spray seems to do the trick. The bayleton Robert was showing is on ebay too. 12.99 for 8 oz. I have been spraying and spraying trying to get rid of the rust I hate the way the leaves look. i ordered some of this and that should take care of that.
Great plants and flowers. Always like seeing others collections. I'm jealeous, I have never had one produce a seed pod. Must be too hot here.
LOL, Dana! Not B-12! B-1! Superthrive is the same thing.
dBrooks I think you need butterflies and hummingbirds too hot for them maybe? It is strange I watch the butterflies seems they go for certain colors. They all smell good except the puducia but in the heat of the day it produces a slight smell. I have a large passion vine put in this year and you can watch them follow it looking for a flower it hasn't yet but seems they know what it is.
Thanks for sharing the many phases of working with your plants. It is inspiring and I love the bright pink one. I hope I get that color one day.
Louise
Louise if the seed pods makes it I'll send some seeds your way.
Thanks very much for being generous!
Louise
Great pictures!
Dana;
I've several plummies for the past few years. This year I've noticed something odd looking on the inflo. as the flushes of blooms slows down. And by Jorge! Those are seedpods? Thanks for the info. I'll take pic. for my personal journal. Anyone know what kind of butterfly/moth that pollinate our plumerias? I'd love to find out.
Kim
It has been said that thrips pollinate plumerias, but I think anything with a long probascus can do it.
Interesting, of all things thrips? They defigure Iris, but harmless to Plumies, Clare?
I have been told hummingbirds I try to keep flowers here that they like. But I have alot of butterflies hanging around. Lily I take pictures about twice a month of all my plumies like to go back and see the how much they have grown. And the seed pods to me its fun to go back and see how they have grown call me weird doesn't take much for me to amuse my self lol. Clare I did find the b1 in Lowes marked down gallon jugs for 2 dollars. I just transplanted a bunch of seedlings and used it on them. Still spraying the rust can't get rid of it. The plants I picked up in Temple Terrace are showing signs of growth they had a water restrickion going on and didn't water. They are happy here been spraying them alot trying to get rid of the rust.
Kim, yes, the sex organs are teeny tiny and hard to reach in the plumie flower, and thrips are just tiny enough to reach down there. Other possibilities are hawk moths and butterflies with their long proboscis. (I spelled it wrong earlier.) They don't seem to do any damage to the flowers thankfully. Also, a good jarring or strong winds will help a flower to pollinate itself as it has both male and female parts.
Dana, there is no nectar for hummingbirds so they don't go for the flowers. That's a great deal on Vitamin B-1. You only need about a tablespoon per gallon of water after you transplant. It works great and is much cheaper than Superthrive, which is mostly likely the same thing.
There is a product for lawn fungus at Home Depot, which contains Bayleton and which should help you with the rust. I would remove and bag all infected leaves and spray the rest.

I purchased this one from HD early this summer, soon after I brought it home I found out it was affected with Rust. I've trimmed off most leaves in August. Sprayed vigoruously with 3-in-1, it seems to have control the rust for a while, then recurs. I think due to high humidity in our area just promotes more rust problem. So, last week or so. I defoliage all the leaves. :(
