In the spring I'll be adding another bed and I want fragrant lilies as a center piece. It will be surrounding the windows of our breakfast nook so fragrance is my highest priority. I'm looking for ideas and suggestions. Pix would be great too (pix are ALWAYS welcome). I'm considering any color theme. We have a brick house with small white windows surrounding the nook. The area has morning shade and great soil.
Suggestions for other fragrant plants that go with lilies would also be appreciated. I have a small yard so I can't afford anything that may be invasive though.
What was your most fragrant lily this year?
Still stand by the Nicotiana 'Fragrant Cloud' - amazing scent (gets to be about 3' tall). Have you considered some lavender behind the lilies?
I'd like to try the nicotiana. But I'm going to have to decide on which fragrant lilies would be best.
Just realized the title of your thread - duh! Sorry about that - I need to pay better attention! ;)
Stargazers are nice for scent, but my regal lilies really outdo them. Especially in the evening. They are my favorite scented lily.

I grow them with Nicotiana, so maybe you were just reading my mind, Chantell!
I've heard that Regal lilies were very fragrant but I hadn't looked them up in Plant files. I'm fully convinced now. I'm definitely going to order some this winter. That's what I was looking for---wafting fragrance. Thanks so much for putting up the link. I don't know why I didn't look it up before.
Think I'm going to have to order some of those as well!!! :)
renwings - if you ever have any spare bulbs for trade would you dmail me, please?

Casa Blanca oriental lily - hands down. But many people on the NorthEast forum complained that flowers were not as fragrant as usual this year. I bought several roses specifically for their knock-out scent - but only now are they starting to smell as sweet as I expected.
What kind of roses did you get? I'm always looking for recommedations for very fragrant flowers. I tried 'Mister Lincoln' and 'Double Delight' this year and I loved them! 'Strike it Rich' was extremely pretty and relatively disease-free but had a much lighter scent.
Margaret Merril - white rose - smells exquisite
