They are using the 'S' word in the weather reports this evening!
Wonder what we will wake up to tomorrow morning?
Oh! No! S................!
I know. Isn't this nuts. And Friday is forecast to be 19 or 20C. What a nutty place to live, for heaven's sake.

As I said in another post somewhere, are we tough or what!

We are getting the first little showers which always presage monsoon season - 6 months of grey, wet, blahs.
Doesn't that make snow sound almost good?
No snow yet.
I am having a new 'structure' built in one of my flower beds which will necessitate digging up a number of plants for several days while the 3 posts are put in. The guy called me yesterday and said he'd be here at 9 this morning. I had visions of digging in the snow this morning!
What kind of structure. Sounds exciting. In the Veggie garden? Greenhouse?
el snoopo.
Yikes!!! Snow it is only Sept. for heaven's sake..We didn't get anything here in Drumheller so I hope it stays away.
Well all we got here was a few flakes and by mid afternoon the sun is out and it is getting warm again! Saved!
Hope the roof will be yellow and white!!. Really liked your clever idea of umbrellas to shade your shade plants from hot hot AB sun. Will have to think how to keep dogs out of that particular patch of shade, methinks.

LOL Ginny!
No problem with the dogs and shade - they like to lie underneath the spruce tree or around on the little patch of grass on the north side of the house. They rarely ever venture into the flower beds.
It will just be an 'arch' to match the ones in the veggie garden. No paint but will create a bit more shade in that area expecially once I get a few clematis growing up and over. Should be finished tomorrow . Might even make a trip out to the nursery to see if they have any left over clematis! Still time to plant!
I just checked the weather report as I missed the news tonight - frost warning in effect so guess I better go out and cover those mums before we go to bed!

That will be just super when climbers climb. Your workman did a really good job of not ruining plantings when he was digging. It really is pretty.
You could also plant some spurias against the fence for low down shade. (have to talk iris ya know)!!!!

Oh Carol, I love that! It looks great.
Let me know if you find any nice clematis, I'm looking for some too. Most of the ones I've seen though have been mildewed...
Joanne
FV,
Your arbor structure looks great!
Can I ask how you found a carpenter in Calgary to do that?
Would you share his/her name?
Thanks
Gk
Jo I might take a trip to Greengate tomorrow - although probably I should phone first to see if they have any clematis left - I want alpinas. Ginny has offered me some seed.
Gk I organize the workshops for the Hort. Society I have 2-3 landscapers who do presentations so I called a couple of them and one who was not interested in such a tiny little job ( and also said it would be very expensive!) ( besides all I really needed was a carpenter - impossible to find these days!) gave me the name of a fellow who used to work for him. He is a journeyman landscaper but works by himself.
Name of company is Geoscape (Geoff Richardson. D mail me if you want more information.

Your Plant Pergola looks great! I too am amazed that you found someone in Alberta that would do such a lovely job without you getting a loan to get it done!
I found some decent Clem's in the Home depot near me and they were healthy to boot! Enjoy your shopping.
