I am trying to decide if I want to cut and root some of my plumies over the winter or leave them 'whole' for another season. Any suggestions, comments, thoughts would be appreciated.
Input to cut and root or let them grow
Thank you so much for your input. I had clicked on you to send you a D-Mail but decided against it, I saw where your brother was injured and didn't want to disturb you, and you have my prayers also. The winter works for me because I put them on a heat mat under the lights in a warm greenhouse. During the summer I keep the temps cold in there. But what are your thought about leaving them to grow as they are. I really want to do that just to see what they will do and how they would bloom. I have a couple of hands full of plumies but I'm still in the learning stage. If I rooted cuttings I would most likely give them away, my space is limited.
There must be a bit of confusion because my brother was not injured..... it was Lopaka on this forum who has had an injury, and I quoted a letter from his brother.... I guess that is how the confusion came about.....But thanks for your sensitivty in any case.
If you have space to let your plants grow, then please allow them to get as big as they want. A bigger plant will give you more blooms, these really are trees... but rooting in the winter on a heatmat has always worked for me if you want to go that route.

I personally hate cutting my trees. It disfigures them and leaves them with scars. I would only trim out of necessity. I agree with Hetty. The more branches you have, the more flowers you will have next year.
That was really the answers that I wanted to hear. Thank you.
